whats up with the DR'S!!

I have called my neurologist 3 days now to get her to call me back... no call as of yet. I was taking the advice of some of the members here and want her to call my insurance co for more than 2 scripts a month for the injections. I just cant believe the lack or care or concern that Im receiving. Problem is my insurance co only has a handful in my area that are under my plan. Walmart is where I get my scripts filled as I have found them to be the "cheapest". I also have to say hats off to them for trying to help me with this problem. They too have faxed the necessary papers to my DR to submit to the ins co to up my prescript. I finally broke down and just said hell with it and paid on my own. The last time my cycle came I went through almost $4000.00 out of my pocket because I had no ins at the time. I have taken this sites advice on a few things since finding it a few weeks ago. The imitrex tip is now being a lifesavor. Can you guys help me out with the problem Im facing now. How can I get the attention of my DOC? Incidently.. I had plans on making sure she was aware of this website.. but who knows if Ill even get the opportunity to tell her.. like I said.. Ive been trying since last Wednesday to get her to call me back!!!

Ahh yes, the neurologist dilemma

I got miraculous results when I asked my GP to call.  She got a response within an hour.  Go figure!

If you live in the same city I'd suggest sitting in the waiting room until you see him Wink  Course I imagine you would have done that by now if you did live in the same city.

Try the GP route.  Having someone else advocate works.  Rule #1  Doctors don't tend to like "patients"....they like facts.

By "only a handful", do you mean neurologists? Perhaps I am just an ignorant dumbass, but here are some of my thoughts.

1. Call every neurologist on your plan and try to make an appointment for today. If you find one who will take you that day, ditch this other asswipe and have all of your info sent to the new one. Take advantage of the commercialization of medical care and utilize your powers as a consumer. You wouldn't accept this kind of treatment if you were buying a car or some other goods or services, there is no reason for you to accept it in this case. Somebody, somewhere, has the capability to treat you as you deserve, and you (just as anyone else) deserve reasonably prompt attention.

2. Assuming you cannot find a neurologist to take you in today, find a different one anyways. This one does not suit your needs. Period. Make an appointment for as soon as possible with a new neurologist. This new neurologist will most likely take better care of you, especially if you explain why you switched. Plus you are likely to get some free samples. Mmmmm... free samples....

3. Pay a visit to crappy, unresponsive neurologist's office
and get the attention you deserve. Utilize whatever method suits you. Below are listed some possible methods.

Method A: Calmly explain that you are suffering and that you need matters attended to. Pleasently inform them that you would be more than happy to wait in the office until your needs are satisfied.

Method B: Wait until you feel a headache coming on, burst into the office, grab receptionist by the lapels, point to your afflicted eye and scream "Look at me!Loook at meeeeee!" Turn to face the frightened people in the waiting room and sobbingly say "Why won't Dr. (so and so) help me? Why does he/she turn his/her back on my suffering?" The ensueing reduction of this Prick's patients (read customer base) may prompt him/her to re-evaluate his/her customer service policy.

Method C: Stroll into neurologist's office, bypass receptionist and continue directly to whichever room neurologist is seeing someone in. Promptly drop pants, and lay one down right on the floor. Wink and say "How you doin'." Explain that you have been getting shit on for 3 days, so you just wanted to return the favor.

Method D: Use your high pwered contacts to hunt me down and kill me for posting such a stupid reply to your very serious topic.

Good luck,
-Curtis

I'm liking the Method B. I'll go with that one. Just playing it out in my head made me laugh.  Grin

Our regular internalist doc was 'great'.....he'd get results for us usually within a few hours and I could even email him and he'd actually email me rite back if he had the time !!!! Course he took a hospital position in Michigan and left his practice. Got an office visit with the new doc this week and got a feelin things won't be as smooth as they were...this new guy is too busy....and has a super long waiting list to get in to see him. Guess ya should call yer nero achinghead till he gets sick of you and helps ya out.course ya hate ta go that route each 'n every time rite ? Good luck !! Pam-Coots-nervous-about-new-doc-apt

achinghead:

This has happened to most of us at least once, usually when they don't know what to do for you. You can call and politely give your name and state you are returning a call to Dr. _____. Most of their offices are so busy, they don't remember who they called, or if the assistant called a patient for them. They have to deal with you if you make it past the office professional. The GP suggestion is a great one, too. If still no luck, follow the previous advice and find a new neuro. You may be a patient, but you are a customer, too.

The post was awesome! Had secret fantasies about one of those methods, glad to know I'm not theonly one. It made me smile! Smiley
