I just want to share this... We are attending a very special wedding tomorrow, Cees and I. A wedding that has only been possible for 3 years. It is Cees' best and oldest friend who is getting married - and he is getting married to another man. They have been together for some years but they want to commit themselves and be properly married. So tomorrow we'll all go to the lovely old townhall where they live, and be there when they take vows and exchange rings and are officially married. Cees is working on his dinner speech upstairs; his friend has asked him to be chief witness (we don't have the institution of best Man" over here). I am working an a short witty speech when I present them with a small recipe book I made up for them. We are shining shoes and checking out ties and I have been to the hairdressers' - all ready for tomorrow morning. It will be a good day and a LOVE day, and I am very happy that this has been made possible. Just sharing something good...

Ave, Love is so special whenever it can be found, for these guys to go through a full commitment, on top of the hassles of being gay, (with most of the laws written for straight couples; i.e. marriage, insurance, benefits, patient rights, etc.) we see how strong that bonding of soul mates can be. That feeling of invincibility, together we can do anything. (Amway was built on this principle ) In 1975, I introduced two of my buddy’s to each other. Talk about “Twin sons of different mothers” (oblique reference to their favorite album by Dan Fogelberg/Tim Weisberg…?) They hit it off immediately, and are still together, and that’s in Missouri. Love is strong, you should have an uplifting time at the wedding, especially since you are already feeling gay…..er……Happy! Peace, David J.

Hey Ave, I hope you have a great time! My friend at work also got married at the gay parade in manhattan last year. I say, love is love and it shouldnt matter about your sexual preference. My gay friends are very caring, down to earth people that would do anything to help a friend. Just when they try to hook me up with another female is when I draw the line with them. Have fun, suzy

ave, that is wonderful news....and I'm so glad they are able to commit openly and honestly to each other. One of my best friends is gay, and he has never been lucky enough to find the right partner....but, we are still looking around for him at every opportunity! Since coming to this board, you are one that I feel I've come to know pretty well......well enough to know that I'd sure like to hear that witty speech of yours.... ;D Have a good day, and enjoy all the wonderful feelings an event like that brings on. hugs, Tracey

Congratulations to the happy (and lucky) couple. Ave, I had the pleasure of serving as "chief witness" (LOL) at a committment ceromony for my best friend and her partner. It was such a happy time for ME to see my long time friend FINALLY find peace and happiness. That time was truly one of the most pure and celebratory times I've ever felt -- and Kimmy been to a LOT A WEDDINS! ;D My husband and I were there to see our friend join hand and heart with soul mate. We experienced great joy at seeing someone we love OVERCOME such pain and isolation (it was a long journey) to come home to a loving partner who would share life's crap with ;D Once again I refer to John Lennon - "LOVE" We all need it and we all are better for having it around. Peace

Love... ah Love. Rox - send your friend to NY. He can go to the Roxy (yes that's the name of the friggin club) on a Sat. night. He'll have more friends than he wished for... ... esp. if he looks like one of them hunky Texan men. Unfortunately this ratio of gay to straight here doesn't do much for my social life.
