Hunger as a trigger???
« on: Feb 11th, 2003, 6:46am »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

When I get really hungry (you know when you skip lunch and it's almost dinner time) I always get hit.

Is this somekind of defection of mine or are there more people with this as a trigger?  ???

If it is a trigger, why is this?

I also can't skip a meal while in cycle.

Why?
I always thought it had something to do with blood sugar level.   This could be 'out to lunch'.

Any comments?

I'm a supporter but I can say that if I skip meals I get a nasty HA and dizzy (ummm....dizzy'r )......so it most definelty calls for attention in NOT doin that. There's so many health related food or snack bars or even drinks a person can stick ina desk or purse or pocket these days that'd prolly be a good idea to have on hand....some are very small but supposed ta have what ya need if ya ain't got time ta eat and keep ya goin. Same for me. Although, it is hard to manage because my metabolism is so fast that I am not hungry until I'm starving...by then it's too late.

I guess the best thing I can do is eat regularly, even if I am not particularly hungry.. Could there be a blood sugar connection here?

I can add another complication to the formular.

No matter what I eat, when I eat, or how much I eat, if I am in cyle, I will get hit within 40 minutes of eating it.

As for why hunger is a trigger? Simple economics.

Ch sufferers still do not have a loud enough voice to trigger more research dollars. BUT. We are getting there.  JOIN OUCH!

When in cycle, I am constantly eating SMALL meals.  (rarely a big meal)

Sandwich...
1/2 hr later - bowl of soup...
1/2 hr later - another sandwich...
1/2 hr later - bag of chips...
1/2 hr later - bowl of soup...
1/2 hr later - another sandwich...

My boss hates it, but I never get hit during the day since I started this (only while sleeping).

No hunger trigger here but "selantro" will bring one on. Interesting herb as far as my system is concerned.

Thanks Paul -- you may have pointed one out to me that I hadn't figured out yet.  Time to investigate.

Hi

I don`t believe that hunger it selv is a trigger, but hunger leads to stress and stress is a documented trigger to some of us.

Yup. I don't have breakfast in the morning. Just a few cups of coffee. But, somewhere in the 4th or 5th hour after getting up, if I haven't eaten already and I've been hungry for about an hour, I'll get a shadow. If I eat then it'll go away within 15 minutes. If I don't eat then it'll become a full-fledged attack.

If I get too hungry or if I eat too much at one time it will trigger a ch. Lots of small meals are better for me.

I work a rotating shift. Change each week. It's easy to get sleep/wake and eat/don't eat schedule screwed up.
Getting overly hungry can bring on shawdows for me. I think it's part of the regulating thing the hypowhateverous gland takes care of.

I could miss a few meals and drop about 70 or 90 pounds but then to many chefs at to many resturants would be without jobs. I have to do my part to keep the economy running. How many weeks can a person live on his own 70 pounds of blubber?
