Hi If you need windows updates you can save some money and time by doing this: Go to www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog and download the updates you need and save them on your puter or burn them on a CD. Then you just use the CD or take the updates from your puter if any putercrash. At least you can save a lot of time by doing this Svenn

I guess the irony of my post didnt come through. That exactly what I mean Svenn, the South Pole is going to have Broadband while there are still many metropolitian areas that do not. But not for long. Dial up still out numbers Broadband, but not much longer. There are quite a few people that have Broadband access and choose dial-up, mainly because of cost. Broadband is under constant construction everywhere....here it comes....... http://www.emarketer.com/products/report.php?broad_dialup http://tinyurl.com/57te http://ruralbroadbandcoalition.net/ ;D

Good advice Sven. been doing that a long time now. ...I cant get broadband at my home, hell I'm lucky to get phone service. I even had to put up my own cell tower and rent out space to get cellular service at home. . Broadband is not under construction everywhere. Due to the cost of laying cable most rural homes will never recieve it. Rural towns will, farms and ranches the majority will have to wait a while. Fiber cables have been run just 8 miles from my place but no access for us. Our only real hope for advanced communications will be from sattelite and this is used but expensive and not yet internet perfected to my knowledge for individual use. correct me if I'm wrong.

its expensive here to use the sat b/c you have to already have an isp on dial up, so u keep paying those charges plus you have to pay by the hour when you hit the sat juice it does kick some ass though d/ls at a STEADY 180 kinda thing

I'm sorry this is off thread....but, there seem to be some computer smart guys in here. I have dial up satellite, we got the one way, cause we don't up load a whole lot. I want to network it to my laptop (cordlessly). Is there anyway to do this. The little dick pin head at Best Buy told me I couldn't do it. Course, he was all of 5 yrs old.
