Temperature thing...

I have been wondering lately about that temperature thing.

Some you hear saying cold air gives relief. Is this because cold numbs pain? Or because it makes your blood vessels shrink and so relieve the pressure on your nerve? ???

Others say that heat makes their attack go away, especially hot showers seem be helpful. Is this because al your blood vessels get wider and so relieve the pressure in your head? ??? This sort of sounds like Charlie's alternative of directing your blood into other body parts.

It is not an important thing to know, but I am just curious. I am still trying to understand this thing, which will probably be useless... ;D

HI
I don't know about everyone else But, I run for the ice pack and o2. I dont know why but the ice seems to cool me off and makes me feel better.  BUT, O2 is my first defense.

For me its not really the hot or the cold.  Some nights, a hot shower works (a little), other nights...not at all.   Some nights, the bag of peas is the first thing I go to, other nights...no help.

I think it has to do with 'the change' or 'just doing something'.

'the change' - any abrupt change to divert the pain or keep your mind off it

'just doing something' - trying to keep busy with anything, instead of just concentrating on the pain, or keeping your mind off it

I know this probably sounds crazy, but its my story and I'm sticking to it!   Angry

Strangely...I seem to be different than most ch'ers in that I can't find any triggers.  Exercise will help me abort sometimes, alcohol doesn't seem to affect me (other than if I drink too much, I'll dance on the table!!! ;D).

When in the middle of an attack....hot just pisses me off.  Luckily, we have an under the counter ice machine....the door is just big enough to stick my head in.  It seems to help sometimes, or if it's cold outside, going out there in minimum clothing will do the trick.

My husband ran the 02 hose through the wall of the house so that the tank stays outside in the cold.  I just have a shut-off valve, tube and mask in the house.  The 02 being cold seems better somehow.  Don't know what I'm going to do when it hits 115F here though.

That's the type of dance we male CH'ers don't mind at all.

Okay Okay -- so it's not a TRUE quote.

When the peas don't work, try broccoli.

I rarely want ice. Sometimes I like it but often use it as a projectile to relieve tension when it pisses me off.
