I have been on this site a long time.  Very few people from New Zeland/Australia check in.  At least that is those that register and post.  If you want to start a local chapter I think that is a wonderful Idea.  You should probably go to ouch's website www.clusterheadaches.org  and ask for permission to start a local chapter and get ideas on how to go about doing it.  But go for it.  You won't have success if you don't try. Good luck!

Aussies and Kiwis working together?  Is that safe?  Ya might want a few controlled experiments first.  Wink

Ooooops sorry gnfb
I really thought I'd posted an answer to your post about setting up a group in NZ. Obviously, I didn't. Sincere apologies - didn't mean to ignore you.

I think it'd be a very small group. Maybe we could meet in the phone box on the corner? LOL.

This site and Ouch serve us so well, I don't see what such a small group could achieve down here, but maybe I'm just tired today. I am not at all opposed to the idea, just wondering what it would DO?
Are you familiar with the Health(not) System in NZ? Are you aware that we do not travel this small country very much at all? Kiwis are facing many new challenges at the moment. The lifestyle we knew and loved has gradually disappeared replaced by something we are not sure of. It is not easy to work hard and earn enough to travel. Money disappears. Many Kiwis stay home.
That sounds so depressing. Its not most of the time, it is still a great place to be, but it has changed.
I have been involved in various groups to "improve things" - its damned hard work and usually three people end up doing all the work. Yes. I know that happens everywhere, but it is much harder to make something happen when there's a population of only 3.5million, especially when most of the people are near-broke and cannot really afford to travel. Petrol is over NZ$1.00 per litre, and our pay packets are getting smaller as international companies buy NZ companies, and cut staff to the bone. Most people fear for their jobs here as never before. I guess we're slowly catching up with the rest of the world.
I am happy to help you set this up if you think this will work. I am not being negative, just realistic.
I just asked Mopar if we would go to a meeting in Wellington.
He said "Maybe. It'd depend on whether we had to work (work would win) whether I am  well enough to travel, and if the bank balance was OK."
He too, was "made in England" but has been resident here so long he's now a Kiwi.
I'm open to discussion on this and look forward to hearing what everyone has to say.
Right behind you if you think this will work.

Thanks for all your comments My primary thoughts re the Idea of a Chapter down under is that I find that there are lot of things that are specific to each country for a easy example the names of meds. Also finding a understanding doctor can be a great help. As for physical meetings I was more thinking of online. A simple site with a newsgroup like this isnt hard to set up. If i get enough interest I would be quite happy to set one up first step
address of the site
suggestions heres a few www.clusterheadache.org.nz www.ouch.org.nz www.dammnotagain.org.nz (only joking)
Please post suggestions
and by the way "firebrix" you think fuel is expensive in NZ its three times the price in the UK!!

ok then gnfb - count us in! Let me know what I can do to help.
You're right about docs- Mopar was misdiagnosed for far too long. There are a few docs here who are getting a handle on CH. I was surprised recently when Mopar had carpal tunnel ops and an awful reaction to general anaesthetic, how interested the private hospital staff were in his condition. I gave them the CH.com and OUCH sites linx and believe they did a lot of reading. I will get back to them too and follow up.
Look forward to hearing from you
