Ok, here is the deal.  I am a dumb ass when it comes to what options are available when the bottom falls out and you need to go on disability.  Don't know whether or not it will be short term or long term.  It's probably at least 1 year if not longer.  My husband has already used 45 of his 56 days sick leave accrued so we need to do something fast.  Can anyone point me in the right direction with what to ask and who I should be asking.  I have contacted my husband's work, they won't advice him at all ... they just tell him he can apply for disability via his retirement plan which in turn depletes his retirement.  I am not even sure what questions to ask, or who to ask.  Anyone that can help can email me at topnoodle@aol.com.

We cannot afford to loose his insurance as it is paying for the 5,000 per month meds plus the doctors appts for him.  I am also covered under his insurance so I worry about my cluster meds.

Should I call a financial advisor ???  I am not sure at all what to do and he is so disoriented at this point that he can't help.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi ! Maybe I can help you! I'm Jonny's mom!  The company thats paying your medical bills, u should call! He may have a short and a long term disability with them!  Short is usually a week to 3- months, after that his health insurance should turn into a long term disability!    Also, You can contact social Security and they have a 8oo number where they can answer lots of questions!  You have to be out of work, if you file for s.s. disability, and it can take from 1-5 months before it may come thru!    Your case sounds to me like you have the health coverage for disability so, first contact the Health Insurance he is getting thru work!!!  Good Luck to you both! Hope I have helped just a tiny bit!!!     Mizfinn ( Jonny's Cute Mom)  LOL
