Thought perhaps you'd like to see what El's working on at the moment: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. She's spent quite a bit of time researching earlier versions of this subject, including several Medieval representations, and has been reading the Revelation of St. John the Divine. It's going to be a four-panel layout in the shape of a shield. She plans to mount it on a piece of rough cloth. She'll be using pen, Prismacolor pencils, and gouache. She says: "Here's the WIP pics--first is the layout, second is the one I've started painting: Hope you enjoyed taking a look. I'll post an image of the finished version when it's done. Best, George

I like it so far! A good undertaking and to be a memorable one. I can't remember what the four were represented, famine, sickness, cell phone shortage, a Walmart-gas station-Taco Bell complex every five miles???

Amazing! My daughter can draw like no one else I know (personally) and its not MOM talking, she's amazing, I can BARELY draw a stick figure, much less something that resembles anything real....I have so much adoration for people who can put their thoughts on paper, be it in writing, drawing, songwriting, you name it... Thank you for sharing, the drawings are amazing!

| Yep, "hippos" means horse in Greek. Hence "hippopotamus" (river horse) and "hippodrome" (a horse track). Poor Ellen has a father who believes that a kid should have smattering of Greek and Latin--just so she can be pedantic in her maturity. If she sends me some more images, I'll post them as the thing progresses--she finished the "War" panel this evening. Best, George

Ellen will never cease to amaze me...she's absolutely brilliant. I hope it doesn't take a smattering of Greek/Latin to fly fish .....but I think it really does sheesh....by the time I learn Greek and Latin, I'll be too damn old to travel to Boy-Cee Much love to you, my dear friend Jean

| Jean! Good to hear from you, darlin'. In fact, my phone tells me this evening that you tried to get hold of me today. Well...expect a call back tomorrow. Forget about the Latin--I ever get you up this way, I'll have you humming with the fly rod in a couple hours. Then we'll rip some lips, and I guarantee we won't be speaking Latin. Ellen says "hi" too, by the way. George
