Had a manhunt here yesterday...

We had a State Trooper killed yesterday a few miles from here yesterday morning. They put out an APB and went house to house telling everyone to stay inside and lock doors - the guy was on the loose with a shot gun (of course I was gone and didn't get back till it was over -- house was wide open). We had gone to Shreveport to the VA and noticed a lot of police on the road but .... When we got back there were messages on my machine and Buddy was calling screaming at me. I have a nephew who's a state trooper and Buddy hadn't heard who it was as was afraid it was Roger (it wasn't him), but a 39 year old from Linden (left a 6 month old baby). All for a routine traffic stop. They got the guy cornered in Linden and he shot himself and is gone now, so there won't be a trial. The whole county is pretty shook up. Haven't heard who the bad guy was, but the trooper was one of "ours" - a hometown boy. Hugs BD

How sad. I have a nephew that is a cop - works undercover drug squad. I worry about him constantly. It's a very tough job. Prayers to this young man's family. Hugs Carol

More details are coming out today. Trooper (Burns) stopped the guy and before he (Burns) could even get his seat belt unfastened the guy got out and started shooting him thru the windshield. And then he took off... He also shot out the camera in the cop's car.... The bad guy's car was loaded with meth... figurers... They picked up his girlfriend and looks like she's gonna be tried as an assessory (if she makes it to trial - accidents happen in jails up here). Like I said - the trooper is "old family" up here and he's the same age as as my son, so I'm pretty shook up about it. My heart is just hurting for his mom and dad... I can't even imagine what they're going thru. Damn drugs!!!!!
