I need to know if Adderall works

I have read a lot in the past 5 weeks.   Everything I have tried, I have tried it all O2, Imitrex, all the old school stuff and all the beta blockers everything . everything.   I go to a new Neurologist and list off everything and they just say, "there's nothing left to try"    I have read about a small dose of Adderall.  It is a drug for kids with ADD.

Apparently it stimulates the brain instead of supressing it and creates a clear thought and a clear headache free day.  From what I have read, it works the first try, but the dose is about 1/4 of what the pill is.  30 MG.  Without getting into the details, I am desperate, as deparate as they come to end my headaches.  I am a 30 year CH sufferer and only Imitrex and lots and lots of 02 do anything.  Pain pills, all kinds, are a waste of time, they just make me sick and drunk feeling but the pain keeps pounding through even if I can't move.

I am tired of being drugged up to supress the headaches that come anyway, why bother?

I asked one Doc about Adderall and he looked at me like I was crazy.   I asked to try it, even for 3 days as an experiment and was denied.  So now, the thought of this wonder drug that I can't seem to get is lingering over my head like, "as if I only had".   If it doesn't work so be it, but that not what I am hearing.  It is a schedule 1 drug which means it's serious or strong.  I just need some peace, a day away from these repetative headaches.   It's a brain stimulant of some kind and to me it makes sense.   I would love to know what others have done, have you tried it, does it work, what does it do, can you function?

Hey Kip   wave

There is a discussion on the http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds board about adderall.

Maybe some of the information over there will help you educate your Doc. Print off what you think you can use.

The way it's been explained to me, if you don't have ADD/ADHD, it just works like speed.

That said, I have heard of a few cases where it has helped the CH condition. If you have a doc that's willing to try with you, give it a shot.

If there were even moderate success rates treating CH with Adderall, you'd be reading it all over this board.
