Horrible to read that. I am very glad that they are working on that bill to rectify the issue. It is awful that someone who gave so much would be treated that way in return.... Carrie

| What irritates me is that he had to fight to get back what he deserves. Somewhere someone never updated the SOP the last living son clause. If he wouldn't have squeeked nothing would have happened. IMHO

| Thats bullshit and we all know it! If the goverment wants to save a few bucks, try getting rid of the the fucking illegal aliens and leave our vets alone! The last time I heard, the illegals are costing us taxpayers 338 BILLION A YEAR!!!!!!

This is what George Bush's administration calls "Supporting The Troops." It's a horror story and a perfect example of what has been described as "patriotism light." Charlie

| Take off your Anti-Bush blinders, Charlie. It's got nothing to do with Bush or his administration. This is how things have always been. It's just now that the climate was right for someone to complain and something get done. The media is all about sensationalism now. Cause a stir, overblow a small story if that's all there is to report. Anything to grab the audience and improve ratings or circulation. There was a time not too long gone by that the attitude would have been much different. The story would not have made the news 20 years ago and if it did, the majority of people the media selectively interviewed would have said the man should just suck it up and move on. They'd have had a few words against the soldier off camera that you couldn't air or print. I saw the contempt and disdain for our military firsthand while traveling between duty stations, walking through air terminals or sitting in restaurants in uniform. Others here saw worse than I did. I am glad the pendulum has swung the other way. I'm glad this man is getting some of his well deserved benefits back. They never should have been taken away. Not now, not way back when, either.

Fair enough but Bush inspries me. I know what you mean about the way our men were and sometimes still are, treated in terminals and the like. Aside from pretending they don't exist, a lot of people couldn't identify the branch of service.....nor care. I saw that in the 60s. I saw a 707 in Denver back then boarding dozens of young men likely bound for unpleasant duty and no one glanced at them. Pretty sad situation. Charlie
