I was just wondering if people of this community notice that like the seasonal nature of ch... there is also a seasonal nature to people becoming mean spirited to each other? If that's the case what can we do as a preventative / treatment/ cure? I for one have avoided this place to avoid being less than charitable in my posts and adding to the "problem". It seems to be an ongoing issue. Please help out a friend here in coming up with a solution. with warm regards, Tony

Tony, How bout a hug and an ear? You are always the one with the kindest words-never anything mean-spirited. I truly admire that about you. I can only speak for myself, cannot control the rest....but from now on, I promise to be sure I am not abrasive or mean to anyone here. CH, in itself, causes enough pain. I don't want to inflict any more on anyone. As for you, kind sir............please take this hug for now, and Tony, feel better. With Kindest Regards, Cathi

Tony: I don't have the answer, only pieces of the puzzle. I'm irritible myself, but don't take it out on others, I'm too good at taking it out on myself. If I can talk with you on the phone, you can rant to your hearts content and get it all out of your system so you can return to your sweet lovable self. Any time, Ray

I do not understand either and cannot see why some of the attacks take place here. I get quite upset at the need of some to attack our own. As stated in another thread, when these are happening it puts one off from wanting to come to the site. All I know is that if they had been going on when I was new to this site I would never have stayed, they would have scared me away quick time, maybe they have scared others away. People should think twice before going in for an attack, and maybe the person being attacked could be strong enough to not reply then maybe these treads would have to die DIE DIE DIE and bloody well DIE

I'm usually not seasonal. It's all the time, but I DO try to keep it off the board. Tony, even when you are at your worst I have never seen you cross the line. I have tried to emulate your attitude here on the board. Jerry

I don't think this is your story. But I figured out a few years ago that I had been sinking in and out of mild depression for most of my life. Like alot of guys that get depressed, I express it by acting kinda mean and agitated. It's been very helpful to realize that's what was going, trying and wanting to be a nice guy only to suddenly sink into the dark side- regardless of how much I did not want to do that- and feeling things like road rage, impatience with cashiers, and agitation at work. Actually developing a grimace during those times. Tried welbutrin but man I hated that stuff. So I got a book called 'The Chemistry of Joy', that helped alot, I gave me vitamins to take, exercises to do, practices. It helped alot. Plus i meditate which helps me become aware of the whole process, the mindfulness meditation has probably helped the most with all of my life. Probably not your story but I figure it always helps to hear what others go through. well wishes Artonio.

I've noticed the animosity and harshness ebbs and flows like the tide. It'll be all helping and nice for awhile, and then the snide remarks will take their place. That is when some disappear for a little while (such as myself, but always reachable by email) and contemplate deleting their profile or just having it out with the posters that upset them, but observation has taught me that the good side of people does return (of course, it never left, but seems to hide when the beast is around). Just takes patience. Now that I've overextended my quota of one run-on sentence, I shall retire to another glass of tropical fruits chardonnay and then go with my hubby to Menards to get materials for building Lily's bedroom downstairs.

ass.holiness - that cracked me up (no pun intended). You, sir, are never rude - not that i've noticed anyway. If i'm in a foul mood, I usually just stay away from everyone. Because as nice as I can be I can be pretty ugly too - then I'm plagued with guilt...I can't win. lol Lots of hugs to ya, Langa

Seasonal ass.holiness is actually a rare condition that seems to affect less than 1% of the population. Up to date no one knows the cause. We are all at risk of catching it, depending on how strong our own immune system is. There isnt any definitive test to confirm the condition. The diagnosis is based mostly on clinical observation. MRI scans and blood test results have been reported to be all normal. Treatments have been a bit of a hit and miss, many have been trialled but so far no silver bullet has been found. In some unfortunate cases, it appears to become chronic, going on for years and is considered incurable. However, latest studies have found hugs and kisses to be helpful . People have reported that deep breathing, meditation, praying and going for a walk ( not necessarily in that same order ) can abort an impending attack. Hugs and kisses to Tony and all

my reply will be relating to people in general......my opinion.......people tend to be more mean spirited around the holidays, big events, etc.as they are rushing around to get all done.....also stressful happenins in their lives.............regarding mean spirited people @ all other times, again my opinion, i feel that jealousy plays a HUGE part, being unhappy with THEMSELVES another HUGE part.......... deb

Even on its worst days, this place is Sunnybrook Farm compared to the fly-fishing forums in late winter, when EVERYONE is suffering from Seasonal Ass.Holiness Disorder. What we all need to do is to go fishing. I'm not kidding. Here's what I did today: And I feel pretty good. Best wishes, George

Here's both my pairs of underpants I've been wearing in the bush for the past three months, but please rinse them twice before ironing ". It could only happen here at ch.com, folks.
