Do you need Stat Dose injector kits?

Hey everyone - haven't been here in a while, hope some of you remember me! The reason I'm writing today (although I do need to get my butt on here again) is because my husband is on the Imitrex injectibles. However, his insurance company will only fill his perscription with the full Stat Dose kit (the case the refils come in, with the injector pin). I'm not quite sure why they don't just give him the actual imitrex medication - the way they're doing it HAS to be costing them a lot more than it would if they just gave him the imitrex but whatever! I've tried explaining and it gets me nowhere so I give up! So anyway! I'm doing my Spring cleaning (late I know!) and I found a BUNCH of the stat dose kits. I was going to throw them away when I thought of you all. I know that for us personally it's nice to have more than one injector pin laying around. We keep one in each of our cars and in each of our nightstands. You don't want to be scrambling for these things when a cluster hits. So, I thought if anyone here might need them I have them! You can have them, for free of course, I only ask that you pay for shipping - whatever that may be. And although I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about, just to clarify, this is not the actual Imitrex I'm getting rid of. It's ONLY the Stat Does injector kits. The grey and blue case it comes in, the injector pin and the empty slot to carry around your imitrex refils. If anyone wants these let me know!! Email me at PopeFamily430@sbcglobal.net. If I don't hear from anyone I guess I'll just toss them so make sure to email me and not just reply here!!

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

It sounds like you're offering the actual kits, not imitrex, correct? I'm not sure if the kits themselves alone are considered a prescription item - you might want to check that out, since sharing prescriptions is illegal. If they're not 'prescriptions', I'm sure there are some people here who would like a second kit.

I have the same issue with my provider. They'll give me 8 "doses" at a time, but always include a new "stat dose kit" with every prescription. Always seemed like a bit of a waste to me. Although it is handy to have extra kits stashed at work, home, car! Guiseppi

My e-tank goes everywhere with me (not a chick magnet like a puppy, but has started many a conversation where I get to talk ch). My final "bullet" is Zomig nasal spray (and I do LOVE me some of THAT). However, I don't leave it in the car, I carry. Not currently using Imi so don't have the patient info sheet. Please check with your pharmacist. The interior of a car (depending on where you live) can go from sub freezing to +130 F. Lots of meds can't handle that, and when it's needed is NOT the time to find that out. Please check. Regards Jon
