I sure hope that this will be the end of it. I've had enough of this scandal already - and the former minister's text messages to this woman in question were published by Hymy (Smile) only today...

Yeah, we get a lot of that sort of thing here. Guess politicians aren't much different anywhere else.
You'd think they'd at least be discreet while they were in office, but "needs must as the devil drives" , I suppose.

Does anyone else besides me find this explanation less than compelling?

Aguess "I didn't text that woman" is our " I did not sleep with that woman".
Now the discussion is centred around who did what - and most of all: did the media pressure cause this minister to lose his position or not.
As a journalist, it's interesting question; there has been so much talk about media's power and how the digital era will diminish it.
Somehow I think that there are plenty of young Finnish media students taking notes this very moment and writing their dissertations about this one one day!

Just thought that I'd let you know that this made the Buffalo, New York newspaper a couple days ago. Who would have thought that something like this from Helsinki would take up space in Western, New York State news? 
The media has been up to its usual tricks here too.

thank you for letting me know! Our papers have mentioned that this story has made it to the news internationally, but that is quite exeptional.
Media experts talk now that this case shows that the people want that politicians show a great example as politicians - and as private persons. Naturally, only time will tell if this is a trend or just one, seperate incident.

New Yorkers seem to be more tolerant of our new Governor who was replaced for using $5,000 prostitues.
The new Gov admits that he was unfaithful more than once over the years, did cocaine years ago and that his wife wasn't no angel too.
He's getting a pass though and seems to get along.

Charlie, I don't think that Finns would be as forgiving should exactly similar behaviour occur in here.
What kind of surprises me the most is that our former minister was known for his text message ethusiasm; he has sent them to many, many women before this one. Aguess he would have been safe this time around as well if he had not been a minister.

Alot of New Yorkers were upset with Spitzer because he used to convict with glee in his eyes. It actually turned out that he was as dumb as a tree trunk !
