Who Moved My Cheese?

How many of you have managers or bosses who have insisted that you read this book?

We were given this book by a consultant who has been in our office during the new manager search (our last manager was canned....grr)

I don't mind reading at all but we also had to write a book report on this book...nonsense to me since we are backlogged as all heck.

I guess I just don't want to find the new location of the cheese right now. Angry

I've read it Cyn.   Your boss is trying to tell you all something.  That there are going to be changes made and everyone needs to be ready to adapt.   Undecided

Oh, puhleeze. That book is like 15 years old, and it sucks. It's no better now than it was then.

My company gave it to us something like 5 years ago complete with new mouse pads and they had a big regional shin-dig and the authors spoke etc.

It started to suck so I never read it.

Now 5 years or so later I am one of the few people still employed in the WI district - I'd say 75% of the people that read the book are gone. How's that for change?

We were able to read it on company time so that is no biggie but when we are up to our hiney holes with work, the hospital is at 95% occupancy, we are short staffed (two FTEs), a new manager to break in, new billing programs and have been on overtime since forever.....IMHO....the consultant's timing isn't very good.

We can all adapt to change and have proven this but we just need time to get our work done before administration starts jumping down our throats.

I did have to laugh because our new manager's last name is very common last name in the area mob scene.....guess we have to behave for a while, eh?

I'll have to be careful to check the bed when I wake up tomorrow Grin

A much better use of time in my honest opinion would be spent in reading "The Power of Now" by Ekhardt Tolle.

I just like good cheese. I don't care where it comes from. Brie, Cheddar, Danish blue, Double Gloucester and a load of other cheeses - its all good! For hard chesse the more mature (sharp?) the better for me. Not even Jasper will eat mild cheddar

To all my wonderful, dear, sweet, loving and forgiving friends in WI.   Kiss    Please don't be mad, but our dairymen in Calif. produce these commercials and they are all hilarious but this one especially... in light of what Brew has said.

1. Dairy is part of Wisconsin's heritage. We have lived and literally breathed dairy air for more than 100 years. The black and white bovines that you see grazing in California's Happy Cow ads are probably filmed in Wisconsin. We still have green pastures, red barns and more than 14,000 family-owned dairy farms.

2. Wisconsin has 1,200 men and women who have spent at least 18 months working to get their cheesemakers licenses; 43 men and women who have worked at least 10 years to get their Master Cheesemaker's licenses and 117 cheese factories at which they work to craft a new style of artisan or specialty cheese every day. We make more than 600 types of cheese. California makes 250.

3. Wisconsin wins more awards for its cheeses than any other state or nation. We continually sweep every major national and international dairy competition. We have more cheese factories with walls covered in blue ribbons than anywhere on earth.

We really do have black & white bovines here.  I painted this from 2 photos I took, but I didn't load them to photobucket at the time, just the painting.

Unfortunately, I don't know how long our dairies will continue. The Silva Dairy (where I took the pics) was still there last time I looked, but several other dairies look like they have gone under.

Our cheese is good, but I agree that Wisconsin cheese is the best.  I love cheese so I hope your dairies never go under.

WOW - what are GREAT painting Char! Thanks fior sharing!

OK, now the other part.

Yes Cali has tons of cows and out produces WI in overall production.

It is true that WI wins more awards than any other entity on the planet for its cheese.

My friend is a bio-chemist whose company sells the agent that inhibits mold growth in dairy products and he gos to pretty much anyplace that makes cheese in the world - the stuff they make sells for 100K an ounce and there are very few suppliers (well if you consider the Chinese then add one more). He says WI plants are setup for smaller controlled batches  as opposed to the macro-made cheeses.

Next time you have the chance grab some cheese from any of the specialty cheese stores dotting our country-side for a taste of a tastey taste sensation....... Smiley
