Protests against the war in Iraq.
Today marks the 5th anniversary of Iraq and while Dubba is making a speech saying what a great job we're doing making the world safe for democracy, college campus's are protesting, even the IRS office in DC is being picketed. Recruiting offices are being picketed.....
To those who were around in the sixties and seventies -- sound familiar... this is how it started back then.
Some 80 year old dude from WW11 is leading a protest somewhere -- they had an article on him in the news this morning.
I've been spending a lot of time lately at the VA hospital with a friend and talking to a lot of Viet Nam vets who are there (there's a lot of "down" time waiting from one appt to the next and you tend to talk to each other a lot). It's been 40 years and what I'm seeing scares the hell out of me -- these kids coming back from Iraq - 40 years from now will be right where these Viet Nam vets are now.
And this is only ONE hospital. If you really want a reason to oppose this damn war, take a trip to a VA hospital and sit out in the "smoking" area and just listen or converse with the people out there.
Sorry for the soapbox, but I just got pissed when Dubba was making his speech...
