Can someone explain what FOG LINES are? I know about yellow lines, white lines, and double yellow lines on roadways, but have never heard of fog lines.

There were a lot of memorable half-hour sitcoms in the 60's, and many of the actors of those favorite characters would later show up in cheesy early-70's dramas as guest stars playing different roles. It's sometimes hard to cast away the mold of a character best known for though.
The "Island girl" Mary Ann was ribboned pig-tailed,
and a great dresser.

Oh, the "Ginger or Mary Ann?" question is much more than that. To the American male generation of a certain age, it's a sort of iconic litmus test--a question of profound, almost cosmic significance, instantly understood.
Archetypes. The "Ginger or Mary Ann?" question illuminates the murky soul of the individual American male in an instant.
A great majority of those who are put to the question will respond--"Mary Ann". That is, indeed, the safe and acceptable choice, fit for public revelation.

I pondered many a picture in the Archie comic books between Betty and Veronica and could never come to a one-or-the-other, consistently. With Ginger and Mary Ann, the continuing uncertainty hardened the fact I was in for a truckload of future trouble, and I found her.
