| Officer Guiseppi, I've been expecting you. You believe my story, don't you? Mmmmmm, a gentleman. Thank you. Search? Certainly. We'll make this private of course. Shall we start in here??? I'd love to be very cooperative for you. Back at the station Officer Giuseppi: Reckless? Uh huh, Yeeeeeaaah. Put her down for that. Thanks Barry. It says she's 73 so I guess she looks pretty good for that age, after all the plastic surgery I'm sure. At least she's doing something worthwhile.

Who is Mary Ann ? Oh ... Mary Ann Summers , as in " Mary Ann Summers is a fictional Winfield, Kansas farm girl who is a character in the television sitcom Gilligan's Island which ran on the CBS network from 1964 to 1967, and has run more or less continuously since in reruns. " ( Wikipedia ) No wonder I dont know, I wasnt born then Dont think reruns are available in Australia either, so I will just have to take Guiseppi's words that the answer to George's question is " Mary Ann". Another peek into the TV culture of the Americans ... Very interesting Thanks George !

| A fog line is that white jobber on the right side of the road. The one an addled person crosses just before he goes into the borrow pit. Best, George

| There were a lot of memorable half-hour sitcoms in the 60's, and many of the actors of those favorite characters would later show up in cheesy early-70's dramas as guest stars playing different roles. It's sometimes hard to cast away the mold of a character best known for though. The "Island girl" Mary Ann was ribboned pig-tailed, and a great dresser.

| Oh, the "Ginger or Mary Ann?" question is much more than that. To the American male generation of a certain age, it's a sort of iconic litmus test--a question of profound, almost cosmic significance, instantly understood. Archetypes. The "Ginger or Mary Ann?" question illuminates the murky soul of the individual American male in an instant. A great majority of those who are put to the question will respond--"Mary Ann". That is, indeed, the safe and acceptable choice, fit for public revelation. But I can usually tell if the person asked is lying. Many, I suspect, would choose "Mary Ann" aloud, but privately would like to choose both. They'd like their public life to be purely "Mary Ann", but they'd sneak around with Ginger any time they could. Heart of darkness. Best, George (edited in order to be even more pedantic. }

| I pondered many a picture in the Archie comic books between Betty and Veronica and could never come to a one-or-the-other, consistently. With Ginger and Mary Ann, the continuing uncertainty hardened the fact I was in for a truckload of future trouble, and I found her.
