Jersey and the Mainland Uk have been suffering a tiddly bit from gusting winds. A couple of photos to share. Two more tides and we should be ok and no more damage expected Before After

Mother Nature is a vindictive biotch. Man, that is some force. Easy to be lulled into false security when playing in the waves. Wow! Glad it's almost over!

| Moving water is incredibly powerful. Think how much weight and inertia a gallon jug of water has when it's lifted or thrown--then multiply that by hundreds, thousands, or millions. I'm not a mariner, but I've spent a pretty fair amount of time wearing waders and floundering around in rivers of varying size. A person quickly learns to respect how powerful that force you lean against really is. Although it appears to be evanescent, it can fling you down and away as if you were only a doll. It's one of the first things I try to get across to kids when I'm teaching them to flyfish--so many of them have little experience with unforgiving natural forces. It raises the hair on my neck. The world's not a video game--the real world can reach out and kill you if you don't know what you're doing. Great photographs, MM. I'm glad to hear that it's subsiding. Best wishes, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

Better get ready to see much more of this, Global warming is real and within 25 years many popular coastal towns will be dealing with 3 to 5 feet of intruding water daily. Head for the High Ground. Same here, branches down everywhere and I have no garden fence left either! Thankfully that was it. No roof tiles or anything. Some friends of mine lost their entire roof when a few tiles came off and the wind got underneath and lifted the rest. Another friends car is a write off. It's going to be an expensive time for a few people. I'll bet the price of fence panels goes through the bloody roof too!

That's scary! We're not getting it too bad here. The wind is pretty bad - keeping us up during the night - and the rain has been incessant since Sunday night. Nice pics MummyMac.
