A few years ago my son was looking everywhere for a Toyota Tacoma and just couldn't find one. The dealers said people just don't give them up. I can see why! He settled fro a Mazda. I have owned only Toyotas and Hondas with one VW that I was regretfully was talked into and haved loved them all. My husband wants the new Tundra but it's a bit more than he really needs. It would be much fun on our beaches though!! Charlotte

My 93 Toyota Truck, one of those little ones, had 301,150 miles on it until last week. A fellow motorist thought he could cross my lane in time but he didn't make it. I smacked him broadside. I hit him so hard that my eye glasses flew out of the window. Both vehicles and my glasses are totaled. Sad thing is that his insurance company will likely pay me more for the glasses than the truck. I'm going to miss that truck. I wonder how many more miles it could have gone? Steve G

Steve - the same thing happened with my wife and my beloved 93 Mazda 626. The car was nearly indestructable - 250K miles and still looked and ran near new with only maintenence items replaced - UNTIL she traffic suddenly stoppped on the interstate and the 18 wheeler behinder didn't! Totaled my poor car and of course the blue book on the car was next to nothing, which is what we got from insurance. She's had a couple new cars since then - some things it is hard to put a value on........

This was our 1989 Toyota 4x4 P/u truck. We bought it new and kept it for 13 years. it was the best vehicle we have ever owned, never gave us any trouble. I do not have a pic of when I was launching a boat with my friend Dave and we had the water right up to the door handles. It took a couple of days to dry out but the truck kept going. Here are a couple of pics of it. 1st one is when it was brand new. 2nd pic is when we had a bad storm and the truck got nailed by a big branch. A lot of body damage but driveline was fine. Just wanted to share my "Toyota story" with you's. Tough truck! Note: I used mine as a broker for a courier company for about 3 years and when we sold the truck it had 400,000 km's on it, never burned a drop of oil!!

You know what is really awful? When I was on pred I had weird dreams about me and Jeremy Clarkson - nuff said! That's the most brilliant TV programme, I love it (Top Gear) and JC is one of the funniest men ever. I could listen to him for hours and I love reading his books. I remember all that about the Toyota from hell - you should look for his "caravan" clips! They are hilarious. Umm.. Paul you know when you see this? Can I have a Toyota to keep my gun in please?!

In '86 I had an old Toyota P/U with 385,000miles on it. The floorboard was rusted through, the gear shift handle would come out when shifting, and it rattled and clattered to beat all, but it was still running when I left the company, and was still being used two years later when I left the area. They are definitely built right. I'm waiting for them to come out with a one ton with a diesel. it will definitely be on my wish list. I can't complain about my Dodge Ram though. Just turned 500,000 on it. Jerry
