Daylight savings time (already?).

Set your clocks ahead tonight.

(Why are we doing this so early this year?)

We did it early last year, too. And ended late.
I can't remember why, LOL.

I don't like the dark mornings, but I really enjoy the longer days.

Yeah, it was just at the point where it was actually light when I go to work at 6 am.  Tongue

It'll lighten up in the morning soon enough, I guess.

I saw that, Helen. I googled it, to make sure I was hearing right. (About USA time).

Visit Arizona sometime, Helen. The state doesn't change to DST, but the Indian reservations do. There is an hour difference, literally, from one step to another.  Undecided

Indianapolis doesn't observe DST. My sister lived and worked there for awhile, she said it was a PITA going to work at 8 am and it was still dark...

I have never figured out why we don't all just use the same time. Greenwich Mean Time (or Zulu time) would be just fine. No matter who you call or where you go, it's the same time everywhere.

Oh, that's right - more convenience and energy savings brought to you by the US government.

Yep, it is, as a state. Indiana finally changed the law and started observing dst last year. We alligned with the eastern time zone (New York time) as opposed to the central time zone (Chicago time), except for several counties near Chicago, and also in the southwest corner.

And, Pdog, you had it backwards. It used to get light in the summer at 4:30 to 5, now since we spring forward, it's 5:30 or 6. She must have meant it is still dark in the winter at 8am, which it is sometimes, but has nothing to do with dst. It's just because we are on the westernmost part of the eastern time zone.

I always have to remember to change only some of the clocks.  A few of them change themselves.  Things get a radio signal update, or something.

In general, it seems, the ones with a clockface have to be changed, and the ones with a digital readout don't.  But I can never remember which digital ones have to be changed, and which clockface ones don't.

It always takes a day or two and a sneering teenager to get everything straightened out.  When the kid finally grows up and moves away, we'll never know what time it is.

Best,

We are making daylight savings longer to save money but recent studies are showing that's not the case and we actually are using more energy!

I believe Indianapolis is still not observing DST, I speak to them every day, unless they just changed it. They are, however, an hour ahead of us.

What I meant about my sister was that in the winter, it would be dark at 8 am, as opposed to just getting light here in Illinois at 7 am.
