The day I dreaded is here

My supervisor sent me home today. She said I am not up to standards because my voice is too loud and I snap at people (coworker & clients) and although I get all the paperwork done, I am not meeting standards in dealing with people, and that I should use my sick leave.
The she said, "I'm not telling you what to do."
(OK, you're sending me home because my headaches prevent me from being professional, but you're not telling me what to do?)
So I am home, and I am a mess. I haven't emailed my neuro or doc yet. It's been a miracle this didn't happen sooner.
It is not the ch that is my down fall. That is moderately under control with verap. It's the occipital type headaches that go back and forth, side to side, for hours on end.
The supervisor did say I was better when I was on the pred tapers, but we all know you can't live on pred tapers.
So, did I say I'm a mess?

Sean, I'm a legal clerk for the Public Defenders Office. Lots of paperwork, and lots of telephone and counter work.
I did email the neuro, now, and discussed a few options. Waiting for him to email back.

Sounds political to me Charlotte.
An attorney doesn't sound out of the question to me

yes, Carolyn, I am a civil servant. And I have been with the county for almost 20 years. I spent 17 years at the Sheriff's Office before I went over to the "dark side".
I love my job, and I have been having difficulty living up to my own standards.
Also, the neuro emailed me back and will recommend sick leave, so that takes some of the stress off, and he will up the prednisone, and look into tyring something else.

I know that you love your job, but are there any other positions that might not be as interactive with the public? I'm assuming that since you're a civil servant, there are measures in place that give you more protection than the average employee (I know that in LA, it's almost impossible to *fire* somebody when they are employed by the state).
