Well, it has been crazy, to say the least!!!

We need some good juju, vibes, prayers, WHATEVER you have to spare.  Two weeks ago my dad (step-dad, 25 years) called me to tell me that shit had hit the fan AGAIN with my mother.  For those of you that don't know, my mother is an alchoholic, has been for many years.  She went out drinking with one of her drunk friends, came home and accused my dad of having an affair.  (My father would NEVER have an affair, and yes, I did ask him.  Jimmy and I are very honest with one another.)  She gets real violent, physically and emotionally, started hitting, kicking, punching, slapping, and THE MOMENT my dad went to restrain her she started screaming bloody murder and called the cops claiming he tried to choke her.  Angry   BAD NEWS....longer story short, he has been staying with us for a week, and I finally convinced him to go to his lawyer and file for divorce.  For those of you thinking..."how could you do that to your own mother?"...you haven't lived with a mean, abusive drunk all your life.  It has been the hardest decision I have ever made, but God has calmed my heart to give me the strength to get through this knowing it is the very right thing to do.  The worst part about the whole thing is Conner and Brandon, they don't understand why we won't allow them to spend time with her.  I'm still trying to come up with the right conversation to have with Conner.   Undecided

Enough of that BS...just send some prayers our way.  I wish she could admit she has a problem and get professional help...this would all be so different.

I started a BootCamp Fitness program last week.  It is three times a week, for six weeks.  I would have never made it in the military...they would have sent my ass home crying.  My body hurt SOOOOOOO bad the next day....my fingers hurt!!!  My abs STILL hurt from last Wednesday...HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!  Undecided  but....no pain, no gain!!!

DJ is on 12 hour shifts all week, until Sunday...so if you can't get ahold of either one of us....you'll know why.  They are still trying to get ready for this big inspection in June.  It's a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  For those of you that work 12 hours everyday on a regular basis...I'm sorry!

Brandon and Conner are doing wonderful!!!  Conner is flying straight through first grade...all A's.  He's a little smarty pants!!  He's started Scouts, he's a Tiger Scout.  It's wonderful to hear and see him have so much pride in it.  I'm so proud of him!!  Brandon is growing like a weed.  We watched a video of him from October and he looked like a little alien baby!!  (Only a mother can say this...)  Grin  he didn't have any hair...and he just stared at everything...taking it all in.  WOW...I forgot how much and how fast they change!!!  LOL  He had his 6 month check and shots last Monday, did wonderful.  The doctor said he looks great and doing all the milestone stuff he should be.  THANK YOU GOD!!!  No signs of any problems!!  He's starting to sit up by himself...no army crawl yet, but I'm sure I can wait!!!  LOL

We have set up a page for pictures and videos...hope you all enjoy them!!!  We update it often so be sure to check back every once in awhile!!

http://www.ourowntravel.com/brandon

Sorry for the long post...lots going on in our world!

Know that we love you all!!  Thank you again for the support you have given and continue to show our family!!   hug

Gratefully,
Steph, DJ, Conner and Brandon

Oh Steph... sorry about your mom problems... I'll send prayers for all of you.

I'm glad the boys are well. I loved Cub scouts for my boys.
They learned so much.

Boot camp fitness? Why? You're gorgeous. Good luck with it.

You guys are always in my prayers and thoughts.

Lotsa love, nani

All the best we have headed your way, Steph.  It's a terribly difficult stance you've taken, but I'm convinced that you are correct, and it's the right one.

Really enjoyed seeing the album.  You have beautiful boys, and I'm happy to hear that Conner is doing so well in school, and is enjoying it so much.

We think about you folks every day.

Best wishes,

George

Hopefully your Dad won't have to do any jail time. I've heard of some crazy things happening in domestic cases when the cops are called.

Sounds to me like you did the right thing, I've been through that situation as well.

Growing up in dysfunction has a terrible of lowering the bar for behavior, that if we saw it in others, we would condemn. But since it is within the "circle of dysfunction" we are often forced to reason away, excuse, look past, or otherwise accept.

For some reason the idea of unconditional acceptance and love is flouted widely in dysfunctional families like mine and others. It's taken me a lot of hard work to understand that "conditions" should be part of any family's interaction. And it's not wrong.

Sorry you and your family have to deal with this, Steph.  Alcoholism is a horrible disease.

Just the other day, I read this  "All family members have places in our lives and we need to understand where
they best fit in."

Sadly enough - some just never do fit in and for the others, sometimes we are able to find a way to have them fit without disrupting everything we hold sacred.

Hi Steph,

VIBES and Prayers are coming your way.

Sounds like you are making the best of an awful situation.  I'm so sorry.

Don't you dare appologize for the long post.  I'm always interested in CH's First Family.

On the Conner front, 1st graders are pretty perceptive.  Just tell him the truth.  I find it is usually the best way to go.  Of course you follow your gut.  You know your son better than anyone else.

Yeah, when it comes to drinking problems, it don't get better.

What a turnaround, Deej is Rosie the Riveter while Steph's away at boot camp.  Call to duty is tough, but I hear you both win.  Wink

Amazing how babes go through stages of feature changes in a couple month's time.  Boys sound great.  Us little guys agreed to wear our Cub Scout uniforms for class picture day one year, kinda proud I guess and neat dark blue uniforms.  Did a lot of good stuff in scouts together.

Jumpin' over fences,
Swingin' on a gate,
Den eight, den eight,
We'll never be late.

Thanks Steph for the update.  Hope things go well, and give the hard workin' guy a big hug, one from the gang, too.

So sorry Steph to hear things arent going well with your parents. When one is plagued with something like alcoholism, disaster can strike at any minute !  Sad

Take heart in your beautiful husband and two children though and focus on them.

Strong vibes, lots of love, lots of hugs and prayers going your way.

Steph, its great to hear from you, even under the difficult circumstances.

You made the right choices, and in dealing with the kid situation, the best is taking it a day at a time (left an alcoholic ex with my 2 kids). They understand in time and you'll help to help them understand on their terms.

Prayers, vibes and juju for all of you!

(and still want to hear the details of boot camp- when things settle down for you)

Love ya,
