I posted on another thread, but I'd suggest that people go to Hillary's website and READ her proposed Health Care Plan. It makes sense and is a good plan. For us Clusterheads it would be a good deal (no pre-existing conditions rule). I don't see the others coming up with anything comparable.

As to the name calling -- B$!!!!

Obama is yelling change, but doesn't have a clue what to do to change anything. I think he's all talk.

McCain has his own problems right now. He's in with the lobbyists and can't decide where his campaign funds are coming from... Besides, he thinks everything is just fine right now with the war and the economy. The boy needs to get out more....

I still think Kinky Freidman could straighten this mess out....

Obama can't get rid of NAFTA.  It is a treaty between the US and several other countries that was ratified by Congress.  He has no such power, but it makes for good demagogery and a soundbite and/or headline.

My question is -- what job are we trying to do? Make Iraq a democracy? That's never gonna happen and anyone with any sense should know that. Stop Al Queda? How? In Iraq? We didn't even finish in Afganistan.

We need to concentrate on stopping illegal immigration into OUR country NOW! Our immigration system is BROKE and it needs more than a bandaide. But so far no one has come up with anything solution to fixing the problem.

Americans have become lazy and are believing everything they hear on TV instead of researching and thinking for themselves. Else why would we keep electing all these SAME old people to REPRESENT US in Congress....

Good or bad, there's nothing new about the US government regulating trade with foreign nations.

http://www.enotes.com/major-acts-congress/tariff-act

NAFTA, free trade, and tariffs really deserve an extensive national discussion.  What benefits the nation?  What harms it?  Why and how?

Can we do that sort of thing nowadays?  Dunno.  Have we ever done that sort of thing?  I doubt it.  But perhaps we can try.

Best,

Iraq already is another Vietnam, we can't win, we can't change other cultures to suit what George Bush thinks they should be. We have already lost way too many young lives. I deeply feel for their families. But why should we lose more lives. The hype that if we walk out of Iraq, the terriosts win is false. If Iraq had no oil, I truley believe we would have never been their in the first place.

I was 150% sure I was voting for Hillary--didn't like Obama, loved Hillary--then 2 days before voting switched to Obama.  All I can say is that I guess they seem similar in their stances--and I guess his charisma finally won me over.  I too am tired of Hillary's fake and scary smile.
I think Obama's likeability would be good--there is much diplomacy needed in the world right now.

Don't worry, Melly.  They may still give enemas to ladies in labor at the hospital (been so long since I've been in labor-they probably changed procedures) and you may get this preference granted. Lol.

Actually, as an embarassed Democrat, I wish we had option #3.

I may vote for Huckaby simply for the fun things you could say in witty slogans including his name, regardless of Dem or Rep (ie: Huck Huck, gives a ....)

Here is what American politics has come down to, in my humble estimation:

40% of voters vote liberal. Always have, always will.

40% of voters vote conservative. Always have, always will.

The other 20% - the Milquetoast Middle - are swayed by the wind (and sometimes other things, like tingly feelings they get in their tummies). It is these people - the ones who stand for nothing - that choose our leaders. And the people (if you can call them that) who run for office end up pandering to this milquetoast middle.

I'm so sick of it.

I prefer him to Hillary though. Whilst I would love to see a woman president I would want it to be the right woman and not just a woman.

I don't really think you have much of a choice though as other's have said. I follow it all with great interest as it affects us all.

Oooooh, wait a second Brew!

I'm not a liberal, never have been.  I'm not a conservative, never have been.  I consider myself I guess a "moderate".   So in your scenario, I fall into that 20% of mindless voters.

Maybe this 20% are not Milquetoast, people who are swayed by the wind, stand for nothing.  Maybe this 20% of people actually listen to what the candidate is saying, rather than party rhetoric.  Maybe this 20% actually considers what a candidate has accomplished in the past and what he/she envisions for the future, rather than party rhetoric.  Maybe this 20% of the people can see beyond color of skin, gender, religious affiliation.

I'm not a liberal.  I'm not a conservative.  I guess, I'm one of your milquetoast voters.

Know what?  I'm proud of it.  At least it shows I have a mind and can think for myself.

Now, Bill, don't get your knickers in a wad here.  I respect your opinion, and enjoy the opportunity to express mine.
We are friends, and politics will not change that.
