I have seen these before...they are soooooooo cute. As a cake decorator I can do a lot with marzipan, but I'm not anywhere near that. That's art. Langa

Just FYI - they are not made of marzipan - they are made of polysculpt clay by Camille Allen. Here is her website: http://www.camilleallen.com/

If they had been made out of, say, barbed wire or Lucky Charms, I'd say "unbelievable." If they had been made out of marzipan, I'd say "why would someone do that?" I'm not denying that they are really, really cool. And very, very well done. But each medium brings its own set of problems and restrictions. Is that not a valid part of evaluating someone's work?

I'll agree, they are unbelieveable, but I think I am with brew on this one. When I thought they had been made out of marzipan (therefore designed to be eaten) I was a little weirded out. How could anyone eat something like that? And why would someone make something to be eaten that looked like that?!? But as they are clay statues, then yes, I agree they are cute!

It's incredible how detailed they are. Amazing. And yeah, if they were made out of marzipan, I couldn't eat one. Sanna

Brew's critiqing is fine. Makes me feel I'm back in art school! Why would anyone sculpt something to eat, something that's gone in minutes??? Ask a cake decorator, sand or an ice sculptor. I used to do cake decorating until I got tired of spending hours to have it devoured in minutes. Art isn't always permanent, sometimes it's a performance. I would prefer to keep it myself and not have it eaten or melted or washed away. The babies still are incredibly well made. My supervisor appreciated me drawing attention to his mistake. Brew's site explained how people mistake it for marzipan. Charlotte
