Does anyone here have ideas what these 1 inch wings represent? I give up. A couple of them are sterling and they appear to be from the 1930s-50s. Perhaps they relate to radio controlled modeling or some other kind of civil aviation or manufacturing. I'm stuck. Thanks kids. Charlie

Charlie, something in the back of my brain is registering recognition, but I can't place where I've seen that before. I'm gonna send the pic to my Dad. He might know.

Charlie- They look very similar to the AOPA wings of private pilots. Perhaps forerunners of the AOPA or local avation clubs? interesting -P.

This makes a little sense. Private pilots or civil aviation are both something that works. The thing is that these things are the size of tie tacks. Perhaps that's what they are? They may just be lapel pins of course and it would also make sense that civil aviation insignia may be intentionally small. Thanks kids. I plan the ebay the things eventually. I've had them at antique and collectible shows for years without much help. Time to get rid of the things. Charlie

NA8 was a designation for the Norfolk VA naval air station . . . That is an 8, right?

Charlie , I think RFFS stands for Rescue & Fire Fighting Service, which is an UK and Australian organisation. They have aviation service so the wings make sense.

Thanks a ton Annette, and Woobs! RFFS at least does indeed correspond to the Rescue thing. I noticed a couple of the others came close too but I dismissed them as unlikely. Now that I think of it, I bought a collection of Canadian and UK insignia 30 years ago somewhere in the Adirondacks. I sold it all over the years but not these. It would fit in. It must have been brought over in the 1940s. I owe you all beer or the libation of your choices. Charlie
