| That's why we need competition among cable companies. Mine withstands winds of 60mph+.

So I suppose if I told y'all that where I live it was 73 degrees and sunny today and that Jim and I walked around beautiful Lake Shasta and down to the Marina to watch the sailboats you'd all just wipe me off your "friend" list huh? right. So in fact I didn't say that.

Just killed a lovely cold ham and salad while sitting in the creek under the shade. Only got out to get another six-pack off the ice. Ah, well. I've always got Linda to talk to.

I'm out of work clothes and the water pipes in the laundry room are frozen. Put the money in the washer and it didn't fill up and just sat there staring at me with the 39 minute grin on it's digital read-out and I could hear it chuckling under it's electronic breath... "And don't even THINK about getting your quarters refunded."

We drove back from Pegg's today. Temp was -13 F at 8 am with a -35deg windchill. Blowing snow across the highway, road was dry. Had my warm clothes, hooded sweatshirt AND my coat and gloves on until about 50 miles south, with the heat on full blast in the truck. Got about 15 miles south of Madison, and a semi went off the road, down a steep incline, had hit some ice. Sat in traffic not moving for 40 minutes. Finally got going, and all of a sudden, there was ice on the road, moving right along at about 35 MPH. Within 5 miles, we saw about 15 cars in the median. Icy road almost all the way to Janesville. It was fun keeping the 4WD on the road in those winds. According to the weather, they were supposed to die down around noon. As usual, the weather was wrong. Was 11 degrees here in Lincoln, wind chill was -5 F. Oh, and for you old people who had to walk to school... I did too, but I had shoes to wear. Seriously, though, when I walked the 6 blocks to grade school, and the 11 blocks to high school, they never shut any schools down due to weather, except once, when we got 3 feet of snow. I wonder if it's more of a business decision now, pay to heat the whole school, or cancel class. Because they cancel class now, when it gets cold like this.

Ah...now it's -1 here....something like -18 C. I think. Lots more snow on the way and it's beautiful. If my furnace holds out, I'll be in seventh heaven. Maybe the snowmobile race will be on after all. Not much snow this year. Send more Mel. Stay warm kids. Charlie
