Cluster Headaches in movies/TV series?

Hey! I searched this message board but I haven't found anything (maybe I am too tired, it's 2am here). Some time ago I was thinking if there were any movies... don't know how to say it. Not about CH (because that's not possible), but just where CH appear. Of course I am talking about fiction movies, just like Grey's Anatomy (I am in the middle of second season at the moment)/E.R. (or Doctor House, haven't seen this one to be honest). Maybe you know more of them, I was and am just curious... I got pretty good news connected with it. Well, it isn't anything important for foreigners, but there is one fictional Polish TV serie about hospital (it's each Sunday at 16 o'clock so quite many people watch it), first episode was released like 9 years ago. I find Grey's Anatomy much more interesting but what's my point? On Polish CH message board (where are only 50 users :< I've read that someone has talked to the scenarist/producer about CH and they are going to make one episode about CH! (it will be available around May). I think that it is very promising because now almost NOONE know anything about CH... (most of the people haven't even heard this name.). However I am afraid that they can make pretty bad thing... Let's imagine - someone has terrible headaches, they diagnose CH and start very good treatment which helps immediately (like it is very often in TV series). You know what I mean... People may recognize it but they also might think: "Hey, that's not that bad, there are so good medicines and treatment is easy". Well, sorry for my long post with a lot of Engrish just like always Anyway I hope that they will show cluster headaches as a very "serious", painful and tiring thing, just as is in the real life. Maybe people will finally understand us (me) better

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Next episode of that Polish medical TV serie will be about CH, this Sunday. I will try to get it somewhere, add subtitles and upload to videogoogle (if there is anything interesting).

That would be great if they portray it as it really is. The links Jonny posted are excellent if you can get them to the right person. Langa

I heard but didn't see it, in the third season of House (I believe it was the season finale) there was a reference or possibly the whole show was about ch. I have been trying to find a way to download the show but no luck so far. If anyone knows anything about this I would be interested. Then again it could be a waste of our time. Mary Ann

CH was used as a possible diagnosis on an episode of House.

Its worth watching. The suggested treatment was shrooms. Turns out the diagnosis of CH was incorrect though.

Not really. House thinks the kid may have clusters and wants to give him mushrooms. The kid didn't play the part of a clusterhead worth a crap. Personally, the best I've seen is the movie "Pi". Says he has migraines but acts the part like clusters.

| I agree about the kid's presentation but it is worth it just to se a Doc, albeit a TV Doc, actually suggest mushrooms as the treatment. Tells me that somebody writing for the show knows something about CH.

I think Bob & the Busters contacted them and planted the seed. They should have brought one of the Busters on the set as a consultant.

I have seen this House episode and I don't find it very good (from our point of view)... Beginning was quite interesting but in fact this kid wasn't suffering from CH, so... Anyway I started to watch that serie from first episode and it's very nice for me In House M.D. all cases are "complitated" so "simple" (you know, his patients are usually getting worse, many different symptoms etc.) CH can't take whole episode. I think that my case would fit their concept (because I don't have many "standard" CH symptoms and few additional). I think they should make Grey's Anatomy episode about CH (but again, their patients are usually operated on...)

I saw the "House" episode some time ago. Am I wrong that it was only a part of a diagnosis? It's a good series in any case. Charlie

House used the Clusterbuster's methods twice. Once, he used LSD to treat his own self-induced migraine, and it worked. Then he used mushrooms to treat clusters in a different episode. This episode was entitled "The Jerk" as the kid certainly was one. The treatment again worked on the clusters....causing House to proclaim that he was right about the clusters, BECAUSE the mushrooms worked. Clusters-mushrooms=no clusters. They then discovered the other problem the kid had, which was what was causing him to be such a jerk. So, the kid had multiple symptoms and multiple ailments. The info for both shows was taken from the CB website. This was confirmed through discussions with the writers. Bobw
