Golden years, my sweet patootie!!

I thought I'd be in those golden years by now.....how old do you have to get before you qualify? This past year and two months have been a record for me and I don't like it one bit. Instead of the golden years, it should be the brass years turned green. I've dealt with the diabetes, the pacemaker, the sciatica nerve and neuropothy, the loss of sensation in my foot and leg, yada, yada, yada...........so today I go in for a routine eye exam and find that I have something called "epiretinal membrane with possible choroid neovascular net". That's why I can't see as well with that left eye!. I thought it was just cataracs..silly me. Surgery forthcoming. I'm not depressed, just trying to face the reality that I am entering the winter of my life. I wish we had a good healthcare system so that I could retire. I think I'll be moving to Australia or the UK soon. Yawn..........sorry. I just needed to get this off my little chest. I wouldn't blame you if you quit reading this after the first paragraph.

No way Donna. I always read your posts. Reading what you just said here I am reminded of a quote: "The greater the obstacle, the greater the glory" That could apply to CH as well I guess. Never met you in person yet....yet being the operative word here...but I have known you for a long time. One of the nicest, and STRONGEST women here. You'll get through this. SHIT.........Jonny has sciatica. If he can deal with that one so can you. Has nothing to do with age. Only determination my dear. Linda

In another month - the government will send me two cheques every month just to sit home on my rear end. The government will pay for my eye exams and my medications (I will pay dispensing fees only). My doctor's visits will also be covered (although they always have been), as will any hospital stays. Donna, c'mon up here - the weather's crappy right now but it's not such a bad place to be old in. You'll get through this Donna - the strong ones always survive. Hang in there girl. Hugs Carol

Dunno Donna. Duct Tape. Stuff seems to fall apart or fall off this old carcass too. It's true I guess that God has a bizarre sense of humor. Hang on kid. Charlie

I'm sorry, Donna...seems you've had more than your share. It's been said that getting older isn't for wussies.....I believe that's true. My Mom says you have to be tough to get older.....that's true too. You deserve a break, Sweetie.... Hang in there, Donna...you've overcome everything thrown at you...you'll kick this to the curb too. Love to you, Jackie And....keep posting.....I'll continue to read them...just like always....

Donna, My Grandmother says that she was to damn stubborn and onrey to die. Thing that pretty much fits to the rest of my family. Including this one. Its a bitch when everything comes at ya and you dont seem to get a chance to get out of the fox hole. But you will get past it and flip it off as it moves behind you. /huggs Tia
