They haven't finished building it yet. Still needs tile and wood flooring and carpet and stuff. Move in date is the end of February.

High quality satin finish stainless steel, it will never rust.
That steel rail will rust through the paint in five years.

Totally agree but here in Australia, a rustic cabin in the woods by the lake would set you back more than a concrete bee hive though
Just looked at the prices of the houses around where I live, they are all $600K upwards, no view, 4 small bedrooms .... and this is 40km + from central.
Sydney is getting incredibly expensive !

It's getting like that here as well Annette.
I really dont know how people afford to live in the cityies of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles etc.
My Brother lives in California.
Several years ago him & his wife bought a nice condo for $250,000 About choked on the price.
NOW, it is estimated to be worth something like a half a million !!!
For cryin' out loud !!! I just cant imagine. If it weren't for his wife having a hi-paying job with the US Commerce commission, there is no way he could have afforded that place.
I asked him: "Dan, what the hell does a tin bender like me do for a house out there?"
He says: "Well, live in a shitty place I guess"
He came to visit me and was appalled at the price of my home. About 1500 or so square foot. New appliances, heated 2-1/2 car garage, fenced in yard, decent neighborhood on a dead-end street.....$35,000
It isn't the Taj Mahal, but it is nice & clean. Only really needs new siding and maybe a concrete driveway.
To my mind, you need to make at least as much per year as the home you buy costs. If you make $50,000 then you can afford a $50,000 home...simple calculation that works pretty well.
For me to buy his home, I would need to make a half a bloody million a year!!!
That is crazy !!! I'll just stay where I am at unless I win the lottery....then I'm gonna throw a party for CH.com members
