Well, we survived and did not kill each other or gag the children and stuff them in a closet (although I admit to have thought about it.  Roll Eyes )

The only think I have come to realize is that it will be a daily thing for me, wondering if I buy a pack and just smoke one, is that really smoking again.  Had a wonderful argument with myself about that.  I figure as long as I can keep myself from buying a pack then I am good, as soon as I buy a pack I'm screwed.

Well done, thats a big big  achivement.

I gave up before for 5 years, I brought quite a few packets in the first few weeks because I could't resist but then I would throw them in the bin in disgust.

I never did smoke them at all, but did cheat twice int week two and three.

After two weeks gets easier anfter a month even better, then you even start to forget to think about smoking all the time.

Keep going you are doing really great - you have me thinking I should really give up again

Alright!  That's fantastic Tia.  One day at a time and before you know it, it'll be one month, then 3 months, and so on and so forth.  Then you'll get to a point where you don't even think about it.

That's awesome Tia!  Keep going.  It's tough now but will get better with time.  It took me years before I could have a beer without wanting to light up.  You'll get there too.  Just wait till the smell is out of your clothes, car, ...  You'll never want to go back.

It took me two tries.  1st try lasted 5 years.  2nd try has been 18 years.

Awesome job Tiannia !!!!

I've been battling it myself for 3 weeks. Didn't smoke any for 2 weeks, then ran outta patches....good reason to give myself an excuse eh?

 Well, I did cheat some.

Chris sent me some new patches & I'm working hard on it.

The very best of luck to you. Smiley

Thanks guys.

One of the guys that I work with told me to make a list of 10 things I will do before I smoke a cig.

And commit to yourself that you will do each of these thing before you lite up and then if you do all of them and still want one then smoke it. But for him typically once he did them he really did not want to smoke anymore.

His where like :
1 - Go for a 30 min walk
2 - Call a friend (supporter) who he could talk to about wanting one.
etc...

His last one was tough...
10 - hugging his daughter and telling her that he was going to smoke (who really wanted him to stop)

This would defenatly keep me from doing it.  I dont think I could hug my kids and tell them I was going to start again.

What a brave effort ! I know how hard it is to give up smoking, some says its harder than to give up injected drugs so my hat off to you for having done so well.

Congrats on the achievement so far and all the best!  Smiley

Nice effen going Tia.

Don't buy anything resembling tobacco. I lost my first battle by finding an old pack in a drawer. It's damned hard to stay away.

Dennis is right about the smell. I had no idea. I washed everything in the house and still find yellowed and sticky stuff like bookjackets revolting.

I managed to quit in large part because my dentist told me how much I used to stink. I loved him for that.

Keep it up. Tia.
