here are 2 paintings I tried, because Carol likes carousel horses and Redd's mom liked cardinals in the snow. Charlotte

I like the carousel horse Char.   But the cardinals... that one is soooo pretty.  Really nice!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.  The cardinals are in a sketch book and done with a large sumi brush.  I am going to try them again on cotton watercolor paper.

Nicely done. You seem to be getting much better. Not that I did not enjoy the previous offerings.

In my book, the cardinals beat the horse by a half-strech.  I like the iconographic character of the red birds.

Thanks!!

Beautiful paintings Charlotte!

Cardinals are my absolute favorite!  We've had so many of them at the feeder this winter and it makes me so sad not to be snapping away pictures because my camera doesn't have the zoom needed (with the image stabilizer) to give them the beauty they're due.

Charlotte - you know my favourite is the horse (in fact - it's hanging on a wall in my dining room as we speak!).

The cardinals are beautiful too.

Thanks once again for sharing your artistic talents with us.

Wow Char....I love it !!!
I really like the softness of your paintings. Like they are not drawn sharply with a pencil. Kinda have edges that are less defined.

You know, not so in your face.

Great job.

Cheers, Dave

BTW, I think the carousel horse would be perfect in a kids room...especially a girl. The Cardinals would be perfect for a sun room or an entry-hallway. You got an eye me amiga !!!

I always think of cardinals as one of the birds of my childhood--probably the first bird to really capture my attention as a small child, and the one that led to a lifelong interest in these "foreigners" who are so very different from us.

Images, like scents and sounds, can be a stimulus to memory.  For re-awakening a very old and good memory, Charlotte, I thank you very much.

Best wishes,

George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.
