I've been using imitrex spray for almost two weeks now,
however I've been able to get my hands on a portable
oxygen tank and know I'm concerned about useing to much.
Since my dr. won't give it to me I can't really ask them , does
anyone know how much is to much?

My neuro prescribed 8liters per minutes for 15 minutes.  Over that time, the longer you use oxygen, greater are the risks for the lungs.

Is there something with your health condition that do not allow you to use oxygen?

Besides, if I coudn't talk freely with my doc, I would just see another doc.  Also, I wonder if your doc really knows about CH, since O2 is probally less harmful than any other drug and is a good abortive for many of us (and you).

You could try to ''educate'' your doc; they are not some ''knowing-everything-gods''.

Not sure how much O2 is too much.........but I've never met that level. Keep huffing. Get refills. Eat fresh fruit, and make sure your _fiber_ is up to snuff. A dash of magnesium wouldn't hurt, either. Think *canned air*........

I am using 12lpm for 15 minutes through a true non-rebreathing mask...

Read the "oxygen info" link to the left.

yeah but...yeah but....

Lee...this has been rehashed a number of times and it's REAL important to remember that  ole Doc Greg says:

Quote:
Defining how much the human lung can tolerate without damage is still debated. In fact, some suggest that previous exposure to high dose oxygen can be protective (increases the production of the bodies defense mechanisms against free radicals such as oxygen). There has been good documentation, however, of lung damage done on patients exposed to high dose oxygen for extended periods of time, some as short as 24 hours on 100% oxygen.

...NOwhere here (or on the o2 button) does it say to use for longer than 15-20 minutes... and I do not believe that this short duration will hurt anybody....

...and for those of us that HAVE found relief (like YOU, if I recall coreckly) ..... it kicks MOFO butt.... no?

so, go FORTH  and use the o2... and don't take NO for an answer from yer Doc....

good luck....
