Update on how I am doing...

I have received several posts asking me how I have been doing since I started the duragesic fentanyl patch. It has now been a month. I am happy to say I am doing well. The 25mg didn't cut it for me and I had to up it to 50mg but I have been pain free for the last 2-3 weeks. It took about a week in a half for it to build up in my system. I had some minimal breakthrough pain at first. Besides being pain free I am also able to wake up and be active for the day. Which is nice compared to what the methadone had me sleeping 15 hours a day. I feel so good I have contacted Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) about assisting me in going back to college and taking some computer refresher courses. The plan is for me to go part time for a year and then reenter the work force. DVR is going to pay for all of my tuition and books and fees! Depending on how severe my disability is will depend on how soon I can go back to college. I fit into class 2 automatically because I am on disability but there is a year waiting list there for services. If my disability is determined to be severe enough (class 1) which they think it is I just need to submit my medical records for verification and I can skip the waiting list and qualify for immediate services and be back in school as soon as next sememster. Have to wait and see how it all plays out. All I know is I am sick of ch, sick of being on disability, and sick of sitting around the house and can't wait to go back to work now that I am feeling better. As I had said, before...Great News. Kate Jackson...(Yeah the same Kate Jackson of Charlie's Angels fame  ) has praised Duragesic for getting her chronic pain in check.
It's not for everyone & it MUST be prescribed by a physician knowledgable of its side effects, but it's a Godsend for people that can be helped.
