Oxygen Therapy

This is my fourth year of episodes...generally showing up in October with a 20-day cycle-of-agony, after which they typically dissapear about as suddenly as they came.

This year, however, my episode-pattern stopped on time, just like the three years prior, then came back with a vengenance...so back to the Nerologist I went.

Only oxygen-blast could alleviate the pain...not treat the cause, mind you, but relieved the pain virtually instantly.  Now since wheeling around a portable oxygen bottle-on-wheels garners one a degree of sympathy, it is not a cure.

Thus, my Neurologist put me back on yet another high-dose of streiods, in combination with a mild tranquilizer to offset the steriod-jitters, and then wrote me a perscription for 'aniltrpitolene' to take at bedtime in order to sleep.

So far so good...two days deep into this new drug option therapy, and no new episidoe, (which had been hitting a one every six hours...

Anybody else out there having the same experience?  Are there other "therapies" that are more predictably corrective of these killer-cluster-headaches-from-hell?

Please advise...bb/Nashville

I'm guessing you mean amitrytaline or elavil.
effective with nasty side effects.

look around and try some of the others.
be more knowledgeable than your doctor.  It's easier than you think.

Hello brother, Welcome to HELL!!

Prednisone and verapamil in high doses were the drugs that sent my CH's packing, but the side effects were ugly. Finally got off of the drugs and am pain free. Lots of drugs work for different people, Thats what worked for me!

Do you think that when they asked George Washington for his ID, that he just whipped out a One Dollar Bill?

What other medications, (with the minimum side-effects you are obviously referencing), do you suggest so that I might review them with my Vet?  Please advise.  Maxault Dissolvables do nothing for me...like popping million-dollar M&M's....

Please advise your thoughts...
