Meds Question

One thing im wondering is when people are out of cycle do they keep on taking preventitive meds?? wondering if there is a need to, i know its different for everybody, but i myself have never taken any meds apart from the 02 and coffee, i managed a 4 year remission, this cycle started 2 days before christmas, and now seems to be tapering down, id hate to jinx it but i managed to sleep alll the way through last night, first time this cycle, the night before woke up a 3am with slight headache 02 kicked its ass within minutes, but up untill then i was getting 3-4 a night, could this mean my cycle is nearing the end? its been 3 and a half weeks, and 10 days ago i was getting hit high on the kip scale, now there pretty low, anyone else experienced this? i know it morphs into different things, i guess ill find out tonight, although my last cycle the beast only came every other night and thankfuly gave me days off here and there, thats not the case this cycle, my questions are a bit jumbled up and im sorry for that, im learning to try and not think about it when im pain free, thats a hard step but i gotta enjoy every pf moment. pf wishes to everyone Dave

| No. No way, uh-hu, nada. Except for melatonin which I do use to help me sleep.

Well, it's been a while since I've been on meds, but the last time I took that route I stayed on meds a month after my last hit. I was chronic, so I didn't want to take any chances. But after that month, I slowly tapered meds away. Sanna

I will add one thing though.... While not specifically a "preventative med" per se, year round I follow this regimen. Daily Magnesium/calcium supplement and a daily Vitamin B-2 supplement. (The B-2 makes you pee really bright orange...don't let it spook you!) It was suggested by my neuro several years ago. Since starting this routine I feel I've reduced the number of cycles and the intensity. Several on the board have posted similar results, inexpensive so certainly worth a shot. Guiseppi

For people who have frequent activer periods some docs keep them on Verapamil 100% of the time. Most folks come off after a few weeks after their last attack.

when im in remission I don't take anything, try not thinking of the beast, and make up with the missed and dreamed wodka also a friend of mine keeps taking 120mg p/d out of cycle. but in my opinion this strategy may not let you feel the small signals of a coming cluster.
