Gotta love the subject! Anyone here noticed an ability to beat an attack through sex? I get a shadow about once a day. I get attacked anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day. I've recently gotten back together with an ex; she is to say the least, insatiable. I've gotten what is best described as shadows during foreplay. However i've never gotten a full blown attack during foreplay or the activities that follow. Days we spend together, I see to get attacked less frequently. Like I said I don't get many shadows so now I question whether or not I can beat the beast with sex. Anyone notice anything similar? Everyone excited to try it?

I tried that once, thought i had a tension headache ( before I knew who the Beast was), long story short .... during a full blown attack, thought my skull was going to explode, can you say KIP 11, WOW, not going there ever again ... just my 2 cents

Re-Direction of blood-flow was my thought as well. Once one has actually started I don't think sex will help it then. It's that window of time between you think you are going to get one and the moment of the actual attack that i'm talking about. Once i'm in "attack mode" I barely allow her to touch my back.
I feel I must add that this has been an ongoing experiment and this is the 1st time I have shared my theory with anyone. My fear is that if I communicate my thoughts to her she will attempt to have sex with me everytime I get quiet. I'm turning 30 on new years and couldn't handle that much sex in my old age...

It's been discussed several times on the board, some have claimed "the big O" will abort an attack, then there are those who find that to be a trigger. (Ahh...the sheer cruelty  ....).......I've never experimented as my headaches build so fast I was never "in the mood!" And if my wife ever caught me faking a CH just to try and get her to.......well.......she'd hurt me bad

I tried with the same blood flow logic in mind. The rush of blood intensified my headache for a moment and then it went back to where I was. No change really.

Does a 1/2 teaspoon of your blood make a difference in your cluster headaches bud?
I am the opposite, seeing fishnet panty hose still in the rapper at Walmart triggers a kip 12

I have asked my husband to humor me while having a HA to see if it would help take my mind off the HA (nothing past a 4 or 5, mind you) I can't say that it stopped the HA or anything but I can say that the old saying "I have a headache" is missused!! And kyitb, what is up with the "I'm going to be 30...and that much sex in the same sentence. I am 43 and I say enjoy...use it before you lose it I know some 30 yr olds who only have sex once or twice a week. Anyway, sex is still cheaper than Imitrex, most of the time!!

God bless my supporter!!! You have no idea! She was with me when I these things began talking over my life. Alot of things drove her away. I never got to the point of abusing her but, I was definitely a real not a very nice person to her. We got back together about 2 months ago. Everyday I let her know how much I cherish her and appreciate her now. Before I got back with her I didn't have anyone (besides you guys) to talk to. No real family to speak of. Having someone like her around has really helped me on so many levels.
I've never attempted to start anything physical while attack is in progress. I have a 10 to 20 minute window (that I feel in my gums for some odd reason) before I actually get hit. Since she is real affectionate all the time it doesn't take much to take it to the next level when I get that feeling.
Do you guys think I should mention what i've been experimenting with for the last 2 months or so? Or would that add pressure on her to perfrom acts just so I don't get an attack?

You just said that she means alot to you and how much she has already done to help you. Don't you think that you owe her the honesty of telling her how she has and can be helpful to you? Although I am beginning to wonder.. just what it is that you have her doing   I myself was just talking about some rough, vigerious sex, kinda reverse pain therapy, but not real pain. Take my mind off the HA if you can, PLEASE!! I guess you can say that this is just one more thing that a supporter does. This is just MY opinion and may not reflect the thoughts of other sufferers here.
