Out of cycle:
250 mg. magnesium supplement
1000 mg. calcium supplement.
In cycle:
500 mg. magnesium supplement
1000 mg. calcium supplement
9 mg. melatonin 1/2 hour before bedtime
Energy drinks with caffeine and taurine as needed to abort shadows.
Will be using 02 @ 15 liters per minute with a non-rebreather mask to abort stronger hits during my next cycle.
I'm pretty conservative as far as treatments I'll use now, although I've tried many others in the past.

Episodic, usually 2X a year sprig and fall 8-12 week cycles, 47, male, weigh about 190.
Year round i take magnesium, calcium, and vitamin B-2.
On cycle I take 1200 mg a day of lithium as my prevent with a 10 day to 2 week prednisone taper to tide me over until the lithium becomes effective.
For attacks I use oxygen with oral cafergot, the 02 beats it down the cafergot buys me up to 12 hours pain free. For the real barn burner attacks I use imitrex injectables. Good luck!!!

PS: Regarding head on, still a very controversial topic on this board but there are some very intersting studies going on about how oleocapsin...(sp?)......ineracts with neuro transmitters.

I have chronic CH and fibromyalgia, so this is a list of daily meds for me. Some help with both, others are just for CH.
840 mgs of verapamil
600 mgs of carbatrol
120 mgs of cymbalta
10 mgs of amatriptiline
1860 mgs of calcium with D and magnesium
2 mgs of folic acid
2500 mgs of B12 sublingual
I also use taurine free energy drinks, lots of coffee, O2 at 15 lpm, and imitrex injections and nasal spray.
And yes, my pharmacist loves me.

I really found that as soon as I started the Verapamil last time I was in cycle, it helped tremendously. Unfortunately, I never kept a journal and don't recall how long I was in cycle for, but I think after a week on the Verap, my headaches were pretty much gone. I am praying this cycle follows suit.

I just started taking taurine caps (500mg X2) so I don't know how they're going to work yet.
If I can't break a "high" cycle I go for DHE IV q8h until it breaks (usually 3 to 4 days). But that's a last resort.
Pred taper helps while the other prevents get into your system.

I won't post what I have taken, just what I am taking currently:
2mg methysergide maleate (Sansert) 3x per day
300mg lithium carbonate 3x per day
50mg diphenhydramine (Benadryl) at bedtime
Note: the methysergide can only be taken for 6 months maximum. You have to take a minimum one-month holiday from it after 6 months or you greatly increase your chances of developing kidney or heart valve fibrosis.

- 1-3 caffeine tablets
I also keep a bottle or two of ginger ale at my fridge, because it helps with the shadows.
No more meds for me. That's my choice and so far, it's been a good one.
