Episodics - are you in season yet?

Always been an Autumn (fall) CH sufferer of seven years standing (and crawling round the bathroom floor), with the irritating exception of a cluster this spring. Each year's a bit like jumping off a very tall building - so far so good, so far so good, so far so good .... and then splat. Haven't gone splat just yet and past diaries show I'm due, so wondered how many other episodics were doing out there with the seasonal visits? Could it be one of the very good things about global warming that these things are getting later and later in the year, or has pre-emptive alternative dosing actually busted this year's cycle?

Mine always fall a little closer to the time changes. I started shadowing a month ago, then nothing. I'm hoping it's like a mild case of the chicken pox....so now I'll be immune for the rest of the year!!!! (Hey, a guy can hope)... As much as you can don't sweat it. Keep your meds handy and enjoy the pain free time. He'll pay a visit soon enough!!! Here's wishing you a skipped cycle or two. Guiseppi

Back when I cycled twice a year, my fall cycle usually started somewhere around Halloween. (Pretty appropriate.) I haven't had a fall cycle in around ten years, though. Here's hoping it continues. Hope you skip this one as well. Best, George

This cycle started August 17th and is still ramping up. More attacks each week than the week before. O2 and Imitrex are working to abort. I'm only using one shot a week so far and aborting the rest with pure O2. 3 m-tanks and 8 e-tanks so far. Melatonin is keeping the early am hits away but I've woken up to some real bangers. To tell the truth I am beginning to get a bit worn down. Hopefully it'll end soon. I'm done whining now. I hope you don't splat this fall. Hell maybe I'm taking yours for ya Now that'd be cool Wishing you PFDAN... -Dennis-

Thanks for this, sorry you're going through it Dennis. The O2 tank is ready to rumble and clustermasx on standby. So far so good. Normally they've been literally a few days apart over the past three years when the cycle started and I'm definitely not missing them. Any celebrating will wait well into November. Thing is I don't remember a cycle back in '97 when I trained to do a marathon. That was enough to persuade me to leave marathons alone for a good ten years - until this year when I found my name down for a half marathon next weekend. Call me superstitious but once this one's run and if I'm still cluster free then it looks like I'll have to make marathons an annual event.

Been a little over two years since last cycle ended. Should be good for another year and a half (or maybe never again). It's the up side of getting old. Then again, I had my heart cathitered and my ass hosed last month!

Yep, I'm in cycle! However, I did skip my cycle last year...that was the first one I'd ever skipped. I hope you are getting the same relief that I did!! Enjoy it! My cycle this year started 3 weeks after my wedding...what a wedding present! Ha ha! At least it didn't start on the honeymoon...I'm thankful for that.

Yep, I'm in season. My clusters have always fallen on the summer/fall season change. After 5 or 6 years of remission, I'm back and in fine form. Yay. Sam

Do remember watching the Rugby World Cup final in November 2003 through an attack toward the back end of a cycle which did the decent thing by the end of the second half. But I do suspect this weekend's game could be bad enough to start a whole new cycle. Damn strange things. Incidentally hope the colonic irrigation wasn't a trigger, a fella needs something to look forward too in later life!

Nope, I'm not in cycle yet, but I can guarantee that the 20th of Dec, give or take a few days, I will be. Been like that for at least 5 years, I can almost set my calendar to it.

Started a couple weeks ago. Taking a bunch of stuff now that seems to be helping. Fall isn't usually too bad. It's the spring ones that are eye-poppers.

Glad your possibly bypassing another cycle Beast. I have been thinking about quitting CH alltogether. We should all try it. Catheter and hosing ...hmmm.......Nahhh..... My thoughts are with you that are hurting and hope its a short cycle with ever milder hits. I know your pain too well as do so many others.

Week 16 going... past few days have been easier, so I'm hoping that this this time around October means PF for me. I'm not counting on that, because my first ch cycle started in October and it's traditionally been worst ch time for me. Let's just see how this one goes. I'm keeping my optimism, though! PF days to all, Sanna

Having done my (first) half marathon at the weekend and one pre-emptive alternative therapy some four weeks back, it's all good so far. Really didn't enjoy the alternative dosing at the time and thought I might have overdone things at the time compared to previous years. But at this rate it's an awfully small price to pay if this carries on. Looks like the running schedule won't be tapered down for a bit yet either, which is just fine by me since I'm enjoying the post race euphoria now the aches and pains are going.
