That really sucks...

If you are not totally nauseated, you could try some strong coffee, ice packs, cold or hot showers, fast walking outside.  Any one of these *may* help.

Some of mine last three hours if untreated.  Hang in there, it will be over soon.

Praying that you will be PF.

Sorry your caught without meds.  Some people have success with hard exercise.  I find walking helps, as well as ice on the neck.  Most people will say stay away from pain killers, but when there is nothing else, it has reduced the symptoms for me.  Over the counter pain killers, if nothing else.

Hang in there and get some proper meds.

Sorry you're in pain. First thing I'd recommend would be calling a doc or going to an ER or immediate care center.

If you can't (for some reason) try
Hot / Cold shower
Hot / Cold compress
Exercise, get that heart pumping
Charlies technique at changing (redirecting) blood flow
Meditation ? relaxation techniques ??
Try to think of something other than the pain ( sorry, hard to do I know)

I'm all out of ideas for now

Goodluck Bro !

Try to hyperventilate.  Just breath fast for two minutes max.  This creates a condition called Hypocapnia which should reduce the blood vessles in your head.  The relief may not last long.  Give it a shot.

Thankyou all very much for the advice... i did read them, and tried sum to little affect... sorry i didnt reply but i was in bit too much pain to concentrate on the keyboard lol... (sounds pathetic but ya know how they get)
Ok i didnt try the coffee as the red bull didnt work i figured i wouldnt really be able to keep coffee down either. The walkin helped abit but had lots of ppl staring at me cos i looked psycho lol
Uhhh i always try the ice trick but use a dish cloth (cos its bigger than a face cloth... small towells sumtimes too) soaked in ice cold water wrapped round my head and my neck and down my shoulder.
I give up on hyperventilating after about a minute as i start to go lightheaded aswell as in pain lol n i get even more pissed off.

The headache i had yesterday has yet to fully dissapear.... ive never experienced this before but, the demon lasted about 3 damn hours and then died down to like a shadow and has stayed since... its now been about 16-17 hours n it is just there.. lurking in the  background... has anybody else ever had this before??? i suffred 7 years now n never experienced this before.
I'm worried about going to sleep even tho i need it as i fear it will come back again.
Plus ive just eaten cereal n dont fancy throwing it back up again lol

A bit long this 1 but yea thx again guys...
by the way... i have never had pain killing drugs given to me... always got rid of it/dealed with it myself..... time to finally get some drugs me thinks.  Grin

Hi Brett,

The lingering pain is very familiar to me.  When I used to fight the beast without help, before my diagnosis and finding ch.com, a Kip 9/10 would leave behind painful shadows that persist for another 12-16 hours after.  Now that I'm using O2+Energy drinks to abort and an occasional Imitrex jabs for the big ones I don't have the lingering HA too often any more.  If the HA really takes root for me it can be a hell of a long ride.

You are right, it is time to get some help.  Good luck...

Get to a doc and get a script for some 02. Sometimes the shadows can be "about" as bad as the hit.

Hot and cold showers are good (for some)
Ice packs (or heating pads) (for some)
Charlie's technique
Exercise
Strong black coffee (pop 3 Excedrin Extra Strength with the coffee -- one time -- DO NOT DO THIS MORE THAN ONCE  or twice a WEEK or you will have another problem on your hands -- Excedrin can cause REBOUND headaches)  If the Excedrin doesn't work the first time - it's not gonna work.
Red Bull
Mountain Dew (not as good as Red Bull, but in a pinch...)

Wishing you some pain free time...

Hugs BD

The advice the others already gave you can't really be topped.   I hope you don't get caught out with no meds again.  try to get 02 asap, and always keep ice and caffeine tabs in the house.
Just one thing about the hyperventilating.  This could really have worked.  When you take 02 you have to increase your intakes of breath to around 28 breaths per minute, this causes a condition calles respiratory alkolosis.  It causes you to hyperventilate and causes light headedness.  This is part of the process you need to go through for it to abort your CH.  it's really hard to concentrate on breathing 02 at this rate, especially with the light headedness, with a banging KIP 9, but if you had 02 to abort you would need to go through this process anyways.  The trick is getting through it and hopefully it'll all come good.
Anyways, I hope that helped....a little bit?  hope you get a bit of respite x

Ok thanks again for all the advice guys!
Have just called my doctor bt surgery is now closed and will open again at 3pm-6pm lol... fantastic. So will ring them again then.
Am also going to push for O2 and will ask about Imigran Injections too.. is this a good idea? (the Imigran i mean, i know the O2 is a very good idea Cheesy)
Well the surgery is open again in an hour so if i can get any other suggestions as to what i should ask for would be appreciated!... (even if its notwithin the hour, i can always make another appointment n see him again)

Update on headaches... had 1 yesterday when i was at the Mobo award show... which SUCKED! was in there for about 45 minutes and BAM! headache kicked in... so spent the next 2 hours of the show outside with 5 bottles of water that cost £2 each! ($4 us) lol... so yea wasn't impressed... then spent the next 2-3 hours on trains and undergrounds with a very nasty shadow... which has only dissapeared in the last couple of hours... so my question is this....

I'm on 240 mg Veramipil a day and have only been taking this drug for about a week and a half. Can it worsen headaches? also have been drinkin quite a lot of coffee and energy drinks... can these worsen hedaches?? i've never experienced in all my 7 years as a sufferer shadows like these orrr a CH that lasts hours.. then i get hit with 2 mega bastard 3 hour long clusters followed by 14+ hours of shadowing in 2 days.

Anyone experience this when experimenting with new things?

Sorry for the length again ppl, really would appreciate some wisdom here!

Thanks alot again guys. your all wicked! lol

Everyone has to make his/her on mind up about which meds they want to take. I chose to just use 02 for now, I have heard to many stories about episodics turning chronic after taking the meds you just listed (and not to mention rebounds)

But that’s just me – it depends on your tolerance for pain and how well you can deal with it. At least I have pain free days to look forward to after the end of my cycle, so I don’t want to mess with that. (let me get hit with a few K9 or K10’s and I may eat my words Wink)

Everyone will probably tell you something different than what I just said, but that’s why you have to ultimately do what you’re comfortable with.

Good Luck!

Tell your doctor that you need to be on atlest 480mg of verapamil and ever Lithium.  I hope you can get 02, it's way cheaper with little to no side effects.  Good luck!  Leah.
