Over 2 1/2 Years CH free... Until...

I havent had a serious CH in about 2 1/2 years.  Verapamil keeps them away.  I start on it as soon as I get shadows and stay on them for about a month and try and go off.

This time, I think it was just time to get them again because I have been on verapamil for about 3 months this time.  About 2 weeks ago, I had house warming party since I just moved to a new house, and we played some football.  I WAY over did it throwing the ball and had some SERIOUS muscle pain around my right shoulder.  For about the next week, I had CH  at night probably at about a K 3 to a 6. Then went away.  Then the flowing weekend I got a stomach bug and couldnt keep things in my body Shocked.

That was this past sunday and monday, and since then, I have been having CH upto 3 times a day and had a K8 the day before yesterday and had to leave work.  Today was the first day since monday that I havent had a one during my work day.  But I got one when i got home which was odd.   I just havent posted on here, and I needed to vent about it.  Thankfully I have a loving and supporting lady in my life, which is helpful.   Thanks for letting me vent guys and gals.

P.S.  Thank god I have 15 sick days at work  Smiley

Sorry to here that you are having ch again . But for me as well I try to relate them to something I may have done . But I think that not the facts. It is our turn again and it nothing you have done. I hope that you are getting on the meds and o2 that you need because sitting back hoping that it's not true might not be the ticket. Sorry that you are having ch . Never give up you will win the batlle . My prayers going out for you GOD BLESS.

I had a similar problem years ago. I was on cycle, taking lithium as my prevent. Had an awful flu, for a week NOTHING stayed in my body!!!(sparing you the details!!! Huh) All I can figure is a week without my prevent let my levels slip down cuz for almost a week I got SLAMMED! Hopefully you can get the verapamil ramped back up and send the beast back into his cave!!!

Yeah, I thought mine were gone.  I had over four years pain free.  They just came back a couple weeks ago.  I've had two Kip 10's, a Kip 9, a few Kip 8's, and many 7's or less.  Thanks for being here everyone.

On August 6th I was laying by the pool on a cruise to Mexico when whammmmm I was hit with the headache from hell.  Deep in my heart I knew what it was, but maybe, just maybe, it was just because it was hot outside.  I went back to my room and laid down and it was gone within an hour.  Then it happened again the next day... and again, and again, I knew exactly what it was.. I haven't had cluster headaches since 1993!  I thought

sorry, hit the wrong button!  I thought I was free from them.  I had to wait almost three weeks before I saw my old doctor for my clusters.  Luckily, I go to the New England Center of Headaches in Stamford, Ct and they were able to locate my files.  I had my last bout of headaches the same time as this one in 1993.  He had all my previous dosages so instead of playing around with dosages we went right to what worked last time.  While I was in his office I was in a full blown attack and he injected me with Imitrex.  Within 10 minutes I was pain free, I told my doctor, he was my new love!  That stuff is amazing!  He also injected a nerve block into the back of my skull in several different places.  Thinking about it now is kind of freaky, but I was in so much pain I told him he could do anything at that point, just make the pain go away.. Anyway, I went through the prendizone dosage, now I am on verapamil, lithium, melatonin @ night, oxygen.  Not to mention that I also have two herniated disks, torn acl & meniscus in the left knee and have had three left  hip arthroscopies to boot!  I am on pain meds 24-7 which don't even touch the headache pain.  I am still experiencing headaches about 3-4 times a week and my doctor is not happy.  He wants me to be headache free... so I just had my blood drawn to test the lithium levels and once the results are in either we up the lithium or he's talking about depakote.  He has warned me that there are some serious side effects from depakote so I am hoping we can up the lithium. I never thought I would experience this god awful pain again... I had a feeling that they were back.. it's weird, my symptons are the pain of course, but my teeth are the first thing that start to hurt when the headache comes on, that's how I know it's a cluster. My history shows that I will have these clusters for a 3 month period and then hopefully they will not reappear for another 14 years.  I can not fathom the people that have clusters constantly.. You are all in my prayers for a quick painless cluster cycle...

Cry That is the worst thing I have ever heard.  14 years pain free then WAM!  I am so sorry to hear about that.  I couldnt think about being pain free for that long and think you are over them for good then get them.  2 1/2 years was bad enough.

Yes Imitrex is the best, I am the official Imitrex junky, as my CHs are slain by Master Suma almost everytime.

You are in my prayers and I hope your cycle is short and that you get rid of them for good.

Thanks Bigbolt!  It was a shock.. but you never really forget that type of pain.. As much as I wanted to deny it, I knew it was the start of a cluster cycle.  I think I prayed to every saint to please spare me! My poor husband was mortified! He told me he never wanted to see me go through that pain again.  I too, have had to leave work several times.  In fact, my daughter  has had to pick me up because I couldn't drive.  My co-workers have seen me at the worst.  One of them actually can tell when I am getting a cluster.. she says I turn deathly pale and of course the right eye droops.  Ah.. let's hope this madness ends soon!
