Anyone Heard of This...?

I've had a constant headache for 15 years.  I can tell you the day it started.  The weird thing is is seems as if there are multiple types of headaches I am having.  Sometimes it feels like a migraine, I have gotten auditoury(?) auras and the "Alice-in Wonderland" auras.  But I also have days it feels like a cluster headache with the runny nose and swollen eye.  There are days I know it's from my sinuses, sometimes it's stress, TMJ or just a baseline throbbing.  My doctors have just about given up.  Imitrex and the other drugs like it suck and do nothing.  The topamax helps slightly and a combination of muscle relaxers and narcotics keep me moving.  I also have to take Provigil,  which my doctor never told me if I'm taking it for narcalepsy or sleep apnea.  (I do sometime fall asleep suddenly but was never diagnosed) I have Ambien CR So I can sleep and Moebic and Plaquenil for Still's disease which is athritis.  I'm also Hypothyroid, the one that's autoimmune and get sinus infections all the time.  By the way I'm only 25.  Has anyody else ever seen anything like this?  I can't believe it's not all related some how.  Also the really weird part is my headaches have always been worse on Tuesday and Saturday, no matter what I'm doing.  I've tried changing my schedule and everything.  Even when I've on vacation those days such.  I eat low salt(mostly) and MSG free.  I've tried everything.  The doctors even tried freezing the nerves in my temples and the cortizone and botox and they did nothing or very little.  Any help would be appreciated.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Try the cluster quiz on the left.  You may [if sincere] wish to seek out a headache specialist near where you live and get to the bottom of this problem.

No, it doesn't sound like clusters. No one could survive a 15 year long cluster attack ... can't be done !! IT sounds like maybe you are experiencing rebound headaches from all the other pain meds / combos. Or "MOH" Medication Overuse Headaches. You should be seen by a headache specialist and keep a headache diary of times of attacks, intensity, location, duration, triggers, medications taken & Side effects, etc. etc. etc. ( The more info you provide, the more it may help get you a correct diagnosis and viable treatment )

Goodluck & keep trying to fins out what will help. You've been through it this long, you can go a little longer and find something that'll work !!

Tuesdays & Saturdays ?? Never heard of that symptom before (I thiink that's in your brain!) If they really are worse on those two days, something is causing them to be worse, like environmental factors, diet, stress, etc .. Avoid Tuesdays & Saturdays when possible  Wink

OK, you take meds because you fall sleep suddenly and then you take Ambien because you can't sleep. It sounds like a contradiction to me.  Have you ever seek mental health? There is a disease called Hypochondriasis

extract from medicine net:
Hypochondriac: A person who has hypochondriasis, a disorder characterized by a preoccupation with body functions and the interpretation of normal body sensations (such as sweating) or minor abnormalities (such as minor aches and pains) as portending problems of major medical moment. Reassurance by physicians and others only serves to increase the hypochondriac's persistent anxiety about their health.

and also Munchausen Syndrome..

http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/health-info/docs/2800/2821.asp?ind ex=9833

I truly hope your condition (conditions) are of mental nature because you are too young and taking too much meds and not having correct diagnosis could be very very dangerous.

Good Luck!

Not a troll last time I checked.  I have kept extensive diarys and such and the docs look at them say "oh nice" and then say try this.  The sleep apnea was diganoised by the overnight test but If I take the medicine for that and with the pain I have I don't sleep at night.  The headache came before the meds and I didn't have any narcotics until about 4 years ago after my 2 sinus surgeries.  I've had 4 of those, 2 MERSA Infections and a breast reduction.  I also played 3 sports in high school though the pain.  I am a jock type person, I don't like to admit I'm weak so saying I'm in pain at all takes some persuasion.  One doc did say I had migraines and clusters and my aunt and mother both get both of them, so there is a family thing.  The tuesday/Saturday thing sucks.  The only simalarity is maybe church on Saturday night(Catholic).  Maybe some sort of allergy to candles or old ladies.

The runny nose and a very sore eye is involved with clusters but the most predominant feature when those things happen is immense pain, which would be undoubtfully mentionable apart from constant pain, like a migraine, also considering you have a sinus condition.  Describing them as worse two days a week is once every 3.5 days, again, most usually outside of cluster range.
I'm no doctor, but a combination of migraine, chronic headache, and serious sinus condition can be very difficult I bet.  Some hospitals may have a separate extension place or building for migraine and chronic headache, diagnosing, separating combinations, and do treatment for very many people who are similar, I have one near me.  Check your yellow pages for one, their experience with this could be helpful.

I have learned from experience, that sometimes you must look outside the BOX!

I suffered for years with much joint and muscle pain,,,,I say MUCH.. daily....then one day all of a sudden    NO PAIN   I repeat NO pain.... I watched everything I ate drank, and did....The pain was gone.   after much observation,  I figured it out... I had quit taking my vitamins... ...go figure!   It was one of my multivites. It happened that that particular one did not agree with me.......  soooo   watch everything you take. It could be something  you would never suspect     Good luck
You can do it... hang in there...

ps.....don't know if they were from china or not Grin Grin Huh

I did try that and cutting out MSG has helped a lot but as the chinese say" what is good is bailing out a boat with a bucket if the bucket has a hole".  I keep trying to find something.  Whacking my head with a good paperback usually helps.  If one thing doesn't get me something else will so I must perservere.  Sucks doesn't it.

I'm pretty sure that you can get clusters and migraine together, but the rest of the stuff, i can't help you with.
The Tuesday and Saturday thing.......I know CH can happen at the exact same time for some people each year ,or month or week so maybe that's what this is?  I know that before my recent cycle change I looked at my HA diary and I almost always got a really bad hit most fridays.

Thanks
About The Friday Thing, You're a day earlier then us in the US right, so we actually have worse headaches on the same day?  My mom's family came from Ireland, England, Scotland and Norway so maybe we're related or something?  Wouldn't that be funny? Her side of the family have always had bad medical problems so something is screwed up somewhere.
