Here I go again - an old vet back at it

Hi Folks, Wow, guess I should say I missed everyone during my 2 year PF. I thought the beast just forgot about me. I went to a martini party, got hammered and had a real bad headache (not the normal old hangover because it started about an hour after a buzz, not the next orning). Thought it was the booze (how soon we forget). That was the trigger. Took three nights in a row with KIP 8's, at least - no meds - toe to toe combat and got my ass kicked. Got caught naked without meds, something I would have never done during the old hardcore CH days. Finally got my Imitrex and O2 and started a pred tapper. Never have done a Pred tapper before. Vet to vet - anything I need to worry about with the Pred? It's 6x3, 5x3 4x3 etc........ I held the pred without taking thinking I could deal with my cycle 8-10 weeks, but my shadows have really been rocking during the day. Anyway, thanks for being here. You guys really are a friend when in need. I'll be reading posts when my left eye swells, turns red, leaks, and the ice pick is churning my brain into butter (sorry, I get creative when I think my brain is getting killed) So the old vet is back and in daily battles with the beast - just forgot what an not a very nice person he really is... PF to you all.

Welcome back, please don't stay away during the pain free times, always someone around who can learn from your successes and failures! As far as the pred, if i do a pred taper without starting a prevent, in my case lithium, when i finish the pred I get absolute butt kicking KIP 10's. Pred will block 100% for me but I always start my prevent so i don't get caught naked when the pred is done> I had an almst 2 year remmission a while back, it was absolutely heaven! About the time you convince yourself you really have "outgrown" them, WAM!!!! Guiseppi

| Guiseppi, Thanks for the info. I took a lithium (little green cap) or I think that's what that was a few years ago, but at the time felt extremely over medicaded and dropped it. I have a Doctor appt on the 27th and will still be in the pred taper mode, so I'll ask him about the prevent med. Thanks again and as far as this site, I've never ventured to far. Over my PF times, I will logon and read to see if the next great drug is out there and everyone is PF. Over the last two years, its been much of the same unfortunantly for us. For those who are cronic - may GOD bless 'em. What a cross to have to carry. I feel lucky with KIP 8's and 9's knowing that in the 6-8 week future they'll be gone, or so that's the way I have lived it to-date. Later, J

| As a vet then, I'll bet you anything you can name, that when you are PF again and I hope that it is soon, you can have a lot to contribute to others if you just don't go away. You can pay it forward then when others are in need. Linda

Sorry you found cause to return, but isn't it great to know where to turn? I had browsed through very infrequently during a 5yr PF (I thought maybe I'd only get shadows forever) but the beast found me again. I plan to stick around now. I'm not much help on those meds, I'm in the process of training a new doctor. I went through the last cycle with caffiene and O2 only, but managed to keep things under control. Usually. Keep in touch and let us know what works for you. Thanks to all of you who care and helped me through all this.
