The Need to Breath

Something I've wondered about for a while. When I'm being hit hard, there are moments when I feel like I have to tell myself to breath. It feels like I have to make the concious choice to do so sometimes, as though I could go on indefinitely without taking a breath. I know my heart rate slows when being hit and maybe that has something to do with it. Haven't had the gumption to time myself to see how long I can go without breathing... too focused on not focusing on the pain. Anyone experienced anything like that or am I just passing into lunacy (which wouldn't surpise me). Huh

During a hit I'm either walking pretty briskly or rockin and toking oxygen.  Either way, a little moderate exercise seems to help, and gets me breathing well.

Actually, I've felt like that a few times. Most noticeably after a large dose of IV narcotics once. As soon as the med was given to me, I didn't even care about breathing. I had to make myself breathe!! Later, the doc said some kind of technical term, ?? shock, caused by the med. ??? ..

I'd ask your doc about it !
