Anyone ever been hit after eating a ball park hot dog at a baseball game? Took my 10 yr old son to a game yesterday and had a hot dog at the start of the 1st inning. had to leave by the 4th because of a HA. got on the 02 and it did nothing but drain the tank. Foolishly tried Trex and it did NOTHING (wasted one of my last three doses) . Hits all night and now another one that 02's not affecting. Loaded a trex cartridge and when I pulled it out of the kit, it started sparying the sink. CRAP! Wasted another one. I hate CH!!! Fell like a junkie who just dropped his last hit in the toilet.

Sorry you got hit like that. My hits always were at night so I was never out in public, always at my home. I never been to a ball game so have never had one of their dogs. I have never connected anything I ate with the CH, that was until now. You have me thinking now. Hope you start feeling better. Too bad about the o2 not working for you this time. Barry

Damn MadHatter. That sucks. I don't mind the pain in the middle of the night so much as the good times stolen from famiy during the day. Baseball and one of your kids is a good time no matter whos playing and what the outcome is. That's some serious bonding time. I'm sorry a CH took it from you. I got hit Memorial Day at the mall with the kids. We were at "Build a Bear". Everyone was having a great time and then BAM! Out of nowhere. The next thing I know I'm driving home with a Kip 8 riding shotgun. You are right, CH sucks! Hope you get some serious PF time soon. -Dennis-

Dear MadHatter: That stinks, the beast taking advantage of you like that! I'm so sorry. I hope and pray that this will pass quickly and you'll be PF soon. A couple of things I learned about 20 years ago about certain foods, that may or may not apply: Hotdogs are loaded with nitrites and contain high levels of tyramine. If I remember right, diet changes alone can help migrainers eliminate or reduce their hits. The Diamond Headache Clinic had me avoid those foods in an attempt to reduce my cluster hits. It did NOT effect my CH, but it may be worth a shot to look up the offending foods list for migrainers and avoid them for a while. Wishing you PF days and nights, Ray

A buddy of mine is a migraine sufferer and was a big hot dog person. He finally quit eating them about a year ago and his hits had been cut by 75%. I don't know if there is a tie in with clusters but I do avoid certain cured and/or smoked meats. Not a bad idea to give the migraine 'foods to avoid' list a try. What have you got to lose?

| I agree Thomas. Hot dogs have preservatives, and they are a trigger for most everybody. Patrick_A

Ya know Patrick, I bbq'd Hebrew Natinal hot dogs last weekend and did not experience an uptick in hits or severity, so I think you're right. The ballpark dogs are cheap tubes of nitrates and few knows what.

Trust me-you do not want to know what's in the common hot dog. I try not to eat them-not because of CH triggering but because I am not fond of chicken face and feet. Except on live chickens. Which would not be very cute without feet or faces. Not that they are really cute anyway. Intuitively, many of us avoid some things in the hopes to avoid triggering CH. I have now decided to avoid all foods that are blue, all people whose names begin with "X", and I will not even touch a purple car. IMHO (which in my universe is correct) PFDAN y'all, kathy

Well, I can't have anything smoked, I know it sounds weird but it is true, even when I am out of cycle, if I eat something that has been smoked I will get a nasty, nasty hit. I have already checked that fact out and yes everytime I eat smoked food...WAM! this includes, winnies, ham, brisket, cheese, sausage, etc... I suggest you ti take a second chance just to find put if it is truly the hot dogs what brings the hit so at least you can be sure about it and not let the good stuff out of your diet like me

Are hot dogs really made from pigs' snouts and unused meat scraps? Contrary to popular belief, hot dogs are not made from left-over meat laying around on the floors of meat-packing houses. Whether it is pork or beef that is stuffed into a hot dog, the meat trimmings are carefully selected just like the meat you buy in your grocer's coolers. Most recipes for hot dogs combine together a tasty blend of favorite meats (pork, beef, chicken, or turkey), meat fat, a cereal filler which could be either bread crumbs, flour, or oatmeal, a little bit of egg white, and a mouth-watering array of herbs and seasonings including garlic, pepper, ground mustard, nutmeg, salt, and onion.

In cycle, any preserved cold cut, like salami, anything smoked or cured, hot dogs, highly seasoned meats, chicolate, aged cheese are hair triggers for me. Pow, right to the moon, Alice! Pax,
