Does anyone else get terrible side effects from Relpax? Specifically my neck feels very constricted, my jaw tightens and aches, I get really loopy and have difficulty focusing and have just general uneasiness for quite a while after taking it. I would never insinuate that the side effects are 'worse' than the headaches but they are certainly longer lasting. Has anyone else tried any other abortive medicines that don't have these side effects? I've been reading around and it seems like Imitrex causes something similiar.

I don't have experience on Relpax but I do have a little reaction with Imitrex, like chest pressure and hard breathing but I lowered the dose and now I feel better, I also take Zomig at a lower dose and I don't get any side effects luckily.

I've never used Relpax. Imitrex injections are what I use to abort. If I take a dose thats too big, I get side effects. Maybe you're getting too big of a dose ? I'd ask your doc and find out. Goodluck UNsolved

I take relpax as an abortive. I've tried most of the other triptans available, and this is the one that seems to be the most effective for me. I take the 40 mg dosage. I can't say that I've had the side effects that you do. And that's with any of the triptans so far. I would describe my side effects on relpax as being zombified. I'm VERY tired and the bags under my eyes are, well, they're zombie-like. The up side is that I don't have a headache any more. I would say the side effects last about 2-3 hours. If I'm lucky and there is a bed/couch/spot on the floor, I sleep most of the effects off. If I can't sleep, then there is only one thing to do: stick my arms straight out, don't bend my knees, and scare the dogs as I shuffle around the house.

Relpax was the first triptan I was given. It made me feel like 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bucket and for hours longer than my attacks last. Imitrex tabs were only very slightly better. Zomig Nasal was the first triptan that worked rapidly without side effects for me. My current abortive of choice is Oxygen, but when I have to resort to a triptan, Imitrex injections work the fastest. As bad as trex pills made me feel, it is interesting that the trex injections don't bother me at all.

| Just a guess Mike, but I think it may have to do with how it's absorbed into tissues rather than being metabalized through the liver and digestive tract? As I said just a guess.
