Summer Travel with my firend Mr. O2

Okay next month I am planning on climbing a 14,000 foot mountain, I know I am nuts.  I use to a lot before college, (before I knew what a CH was).  I am cheating and taking the easy side of the mountain.  My questions are-

I will be staying a couple of nights in a hotel, do I tell about my bottle?

I know I can't take my friend up the trail with me, but I am taking an emergencey blanket and other gear, should I get stuck.  Imitrex oral and injectable and any other meds for the sudden attack from the enemy and my usual meds if I get stuck overnight.  What else should I take?

Instead of telling a family member to call police if I fail to return within a certain time should I alert local police?

It seems altitude can trigger small CHs, I live in Colorado and sometime just going to see a doctor can mean going from 5,200 feet to 5,400 feet or a road trip from 5,400 feet to 5,000 feet which with Colorado air is enough.

I don't want the enemies attacks to control my life.  Living in a fox hole is okay for the fox, but I ain't got no busy red tail!

Why?    Hotels don't care if you bring in your 02.   I've taken it everywhere I've been on vacations.  All the conventions have been at Hotels...and you would have thought we were having an 02  parade coming through the lobbys.

Can't answer your questions about climbing mountains and who to alert.  The closest I come to mountain-climbing is looking out my back yard at Mount Shasta.   Tongue   It's 14,000 feet. too.

Sounds like fun.  Like Linda said, I've never had any problems with carrying an 02 tank into a hotel.

As far as who to tell what, I think the best thing to do would be to notify someone or a couple someones at home:

1. when and where you are going
2. the route you plan on taking up and down the mountain
3. when you plan on coming back
4. the local telephone numbers for whatever park or wildlife services department, law enforcement, ect.

I think you should also file some kind of plan with the local authorities giving:

1. when and where you are going
2. the route you plan on taking up and down the mountain
3. when you plan on coming back
4. telephone numbers of family or friends to contact in case of emergency.

Definitely take whatever aborts/meds you might need to deal in case the bastard gets grumpy on ya and the basic emergency supplies, ie blanket, first aid kit, signal gun, cell  phone and maybe one of those two way radios.

I'm sure some experienced climbers will come along with more.

Have fun!!!

I knew how and what to do before CHs, now I am a little paranoid about them.  I know it is a well laid out trail, heavily used, not far from civilization and my family is use to me being over cautious before.  It just really worries me now that I have CH and it never use to before.

One trip, on the other side of the mountain, I got some bad intel and did not make it to the camp before dark and had to make camp in the dark.  I know I can do it, its just making sure the demon knows its not gonna stop me.

Go for it!  Have a great time, but do what Mike (Gator) said.  Make sure everyone, and anyone knows where, when, and how you are going to make this climb.

Sounds like fun.

Bite me!  Grin

Sounds like you already know the drill.  Do what you know you should do and take along the aborts to deal in case you get hit.  I hope you have a pain free trip and get some great pics from up there!

Good luck!

I've done it , but it isn't the smartest thing to do.  Best to pull off the highway or freeway and park somewhere til it's over.
CH is distracting enough as it is, fooling around with valves and holding the mask on is too much.

LOL  I know.  The "Bite me" (followed by the big smilie, btw) was more for the age crack.  Tongue  It's all good.

As to driving and using O2, I have done it.  It would probably be best to pull over and deal with the hit, though.

Yeah my boss and I had a huge fight last night and you know what-SCREW HIM.  I come first in this world, to me.  The company can wait.  I am not longer gonna put myself at risk for the stupid(^%*^(^*%&*%*%&$^#%#%!!  If he can't understand I am having issues, then this isn't the job for me.  Besides he the oldest, grouchest man alive, imagine a cross between oscar the grouch, Mr. Burns, from the simpsons, and a war lord.  And thats putting it nicely.
