Hey Gang,

Well I have noticed something very different as of late.  Being a long time musician I have never had a problem with music or sounds yet over the last few weeks I have found that certain Pitches trigger a "TWINGE"   It is a LOW level KIP and is like a Brain Freeze I guess in duration. Has anyone else had this sort of thing happen?

Light and sound sensitivity is not uncommon with CH and the whole condition often changes (pain site, intensity, frequency, etc.) over months/years.

Both issues a regular subject of chat here.

What they said! It morphs like a sun of a gun, as soon as you get a good routine in place it'll do an about face on you. I play guitar and piano, almost 30 years with these things and so far music hasn't been a trigger. That would REALLY suck!!!

Sorry to hear your beast is morphing on you.  As a musician, that must just totally suck.

I wonder if it's because that particular pitch sets up sympathetic vibrations in your head that affect the nerves on your cluster side.  (Kind of like the right pitch will shatter crystal)  Just for gee golly whiz, try putting in some type of ear plug so you can't hear on that side and see if it's the caused by the sound coming in your ear or the vibration in general.

According to this ACHE article, a report in the Feb 12, 2002 issue of Neurology stated that a study of 230 CH patients showed that approximately 43% of sufferers report sensitivity to sound.

That doesn't necessarily mean 43% of people trigger off of sound, but I'd bet a large number of sufferers do.

I'm not particuliarly sensitive to light or sound but some are.
I remember Dave(notseinfeld) telling me that he really hasn't watched TV in yrs because he will wind up flopping like a fish out of water since it will trigger a hit within minutes.

Pretty amazing.

As far as evolution goes, my CH was once Neanderthal and evolved to Homosapien...... Wink

The supersensitive hearing is my main superpower.  It does interfere with enjoying music.  My kids have pointed out that (to me) the same song that is beautiful one hour, is unbearable the next.

I have noticed slight sensitivity what comes to music and light. After hits I cannot watch TV if the program has lots of quick chase scenes, that hurts my eyes sometimes.

Nope, and I play piccolo sometimes!  LOL.
I have gotten hits during orchestra rehearsals, but that is usually when I doze off for a little bit, rehearsals were at night, 7-9, and after a long day I would get tired, so when the director would work with that dysfunctional string section for awhile, I might get tired, maybe even put my head down for a bit, and then....BAM!!!
Kinda good most people think CH is related to stress, not relaxing and zoning off!!!!  Hate to offend my director, he's so nice...
But really, that's my only music-related hit, sorry.
