Anyone in here who is longer painfree now than the total period they suffered from CH? Or at least three years without attacks? I would like to know if CH can go away again and never return, or that I am stuck for life with this crap.... Any succes stories or is this a life sentence?

Well, NMCH, I'm not really sure what your are asking us to answer here. I'm guessing your bottom line question is are you stuck with CH for life. Correct? CH is a life sentence. Accept it. Now, learn to deal with it. Many CH sufferers have lived literally three decades and more with this affliction. The key word here is lived. Yes, CH has gone away for a few people. Never to return? No. I don't think so. CH is what it is, and it's different for everyone. If you choose to look at your CH as a "life sentence" then that's exactly what it will be. If you choose to look at your CH as something that is part of you, part of your life, then you will look at CH as nothing more than something that is you, something that you have to deal with, no more. Yes, it may be a lifetime sentence. It's what you do with that knowledge that makes the difference. Sandy

I think that if anyone had told me that this time a year ago I probably would have shot myself. It does seem to be manageable though, knowledge is an excellent ally, so is caffiene!

All I can tell you is I had 6 years pain free prior to this attack. Not sure if being smoke free for 5 years had anything to do with it, but I started up a year ago and here I am again. Needless to say, I'm on the wagon again.

some go for years without an attack and some are chronic for years and years and then just stop (for how long who knows). The beast is just not something you can make book on. He hits when he gets ready and you accept it as such. But when you're pain free you make the most of your PF time and don't anticipate his coming back until he does. Attitude Attitude Attitude. | Ditto And to add to it, CH has opened doors for me in life. If I did not have Ch I would not have understood some opportunities and made friends with a broad specrum of people. -P.

| Right, Paul. Can't say that I'd choose to do this again (as if choices are given) but I wouldn't be the same person if CH wasn't a thread throughout my life. It's not a sentence--it just is. Will it continue for you, NMCH? No one can answer that. Perhaps yes, perhaps no. But then again, nothing is certain, eh? Best wishes always, George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

It might never end, sadly. I've been fighting CHs for a couple of years and have fairly frequent cycles of pain that last for months. Right now I am in the middle of a tough cycle and am having absolutely no fun. I dread going to sleep because I know the beast will return. But I also know that better days lie ahead and despite the pain I have a pretty good life. Keep your head up. CHs are tough, but I guarantee that you are tougher. Here's to a pain-free night! Cheers

Expect the worst, hope for the best. That said, my grandpa outgrew them. So I am hoping for the same but expecting to be stuck with them for life so that way I always have good coping mechanisms. I have come a long, long way with coping better. 9 years ago I was a mess and I was episodic back then. I would freak out over a kip 4. Now I am chronic and I can handle a whole hell of a lot more! It takes quite a bit to freak me out now. Unless it's the dentist
