It's probably a coicidence, but it seem like every time I go to the movies. BANG. I do always have a large buttered popcorn LOADED with salt. The salt?

My guess would be the glare and strobe-like effect of the projector, but everyone has different triggers. The only way to determine the answer is to test it. It may be a coincidence. Do you get hit when you eat salty things like microwave popcorn at home? Perhaps the "seasoning" the theater uses contains some chemical that is a trigger for you. It could also be something you wouldn't expect, like maybe strong scents (if I'm shadowing and I walk into a spice store or down a detergent aisle I'm a goner). Do you always go when there is a crowd or at a certain time of day? Do you have the problem at every theater or do you always go to the same one? Is there a noticeable temperature change when you go into the theater?

My guy also gets clusters everytime he goes to the movie. We wait until it comes out on cd now. He used to take imitrex to be able to have 4 pain free hours. I think its the strobing effect too. Maybe it replicates REM sleep like a fire does....?

could be MSG in the butter/salt stuff they put on the corn. Only way to test that is to not have it next time.

I have also had problems with movie theatres in the past. Been triggered a few times -- generally in movies when scenes seem to quickly flash back and forth. Sometimes have popcorn, sometimes not -- haven't tied it to that. The flashing of lights seems to be it. scott

During the worst parts of a cycle, I cant stand to stare at anything for too long or it brings on a hit, and if it doesnt it really aggravates any shadows I may be having. I cant stand to read anything for too long, or look at a screeen for too long either. Maybe a movie is worse because it is so loud also. Chrisw

I think the key word is cycle. If dude is a cycle kind of guy it would make sense to stay away from shit like that till it's over. Mine are like clock work when in cycle. So I have a routine. If I go out out, I'll do it before or after the hits.

| MSG is instant trigger for me. I think so for others as well, but it is extremely hard to avoid. Took me years to figure this out and avoid it as much as possible, but I'm glad I did. Sneak some homemade popcorn in next time and see what happens

| Artificial oxygen. Hmmmmm.....that's a new one on me. I think it's tipping my head back for any period of time more than about 3 minutes. Whenever I sit up in the back, my neck is in a more natural position.
