CHEAP REDBULL!!!!

Ok, after spending 7.50 for two cans of redbull, I did a little research. The two main ingredients benifitting us are taurine and caffiene. I discovered that the taurine is pretty inexpensive here: http://www.herbalremedies.com/taurine.html And they say that 1 can of redbull has the same amount of caffiene as 1 cup of coffee. So basically, If you make a pot of coffee and pick up the taurine pills, you can make your own redbull for pennies! Cheers! Chris

Far be it for me to stop you, Chris, from kicking Barry's ass (LOL) (can I watch?) BUT the first question that comes to mind is, will it work as fast, or will it take longer for the pill to disolve, and then make it into your system? Chuck

Our Australian Barry takes taurine on a regular basis with magnesium and he has been pretty painfree for several months and he is a chronic. On average it takes 20 mins for a pill as large as the taurine pill to dissolve in your stomach. So while it can work well for shadows or smaller/slower hits, I think its too slow to work for the bigger, faster ramming up ones. Daniel as tried taking carbonated energy drink with a taurine tablet and a cafeine tablet, he said they did work but not as well or as quick as a Red bull. Maybe you can have both, and depends on the hits that you decide which one to use and save some money that way. Annette

Hi Annette If you don't mind me asking, what would be a good dose of Taurine to take a day along with Magnesium. What would be too much. ClusterChuck, I would love to see Chris kick Barry's Ass too.

I was thinking of making a batch of cold coffee and disolving a bunch of the taurine in it! Worth a shot i guess. Ya barry I'm going to try and get in on monday. Not very optimistic with the o2 though. I'm guess ing I'm going to have to get a refferal to a neuro then I'll be out of cycle by the time i get it! I'm sure if she took the time to read annettes fax I should be in business. We'll see what happens! As far as kickin barry's ass. The only way that will happen is if I make it to his place and he has no Labbatt's Blue. By the looks of him I think he can handle his own! Ok shadow settin in, Heading to the porch for a smoke! Hi Angie Barry has for a long time tried different doses. He uses 500 mg 3 times a day. On the taurine bottle it says 500 mg once to twice a day. I checked with the Poison Information Centre in Australia and they said there has never been a report of overdosing/poisoning on Taurine as yet, and they said up to 2000 mg of Taurine ( ie 500 mg 4 times a day ) is safe. The worst reaction you would get is some tummy upset and indigestion. With magnesium, it usually comes in 300 to 500 mgs and the recommended dose is up to 1500mg per day. Hope this helps. Annette

| Chris, I rang her office on Friday after faxing the papers through but there was only an answer machine. I will need to check out the time difference between here and Ontario. ( I should know, my sister lived in Ontario for 7 years ! ) I will try to ring again on Monday, if I cant get to speak to the doc, at least I will check with the secretary to make sure that she has got the fax. I will keep you posted. Hang on tight there buddy. Hugs. Annette

If you took taurine every 8 hours, wouldnt there be enough in your system to aid the absorption of the coffee at any time? I dont use taurine. I just drink diet coke with a couple cubes in it. It does help some......you think it would help quicker if i had taurine in my system too?

Taurine is extremely bitter as it is extracted from bulls bile and ..... wait for it .... bulls semen ! . Therefore I think trying to dissolve taurine capsule or tablet into a drink would render it vomiting material Taurine IUPAC name Taurine Molecular formula C2H7NO3S Identifiers CAS number [107-35-7] SMILES NCCS(=O)(O)=O Properties Molar mass 125.14 g/mol Density 1.734 g/cm³ (at -173.15 °C) Melting point 305.11 °C Except where noted otherwise, data are given for materials in their standard state (at 25 °C, 100 kPa) Infobox disclaimer and references Taurine or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid is an organic acid that is abundant in the tissues of many animals (metazoa).[1] Taurine is also found in plants, fungi, and some bacterial species, but at lower levels. Taurine is a derivative of the sulphur-containing (sulfhydryl) amino acid, cysteine. Taurine is named after the Latin taurus, which means bull, as it was first isolated from red bull (Bos taurus) bile as well as semen in 1827 by Austrian scientists Friedrich Tiedemann and Leopold Gmelin. It is often called an amino acid, even in scientific literature,[2][3][4] but it lacks a carboxyl group and therefore does not qualify as an amino acid.[5] It does contain a sulfonate group and may be called an amino sulfonic acid. Small polypeptides have been identified which contain taurine but to date no aminoacyl tRNA synthetase has been identified as specifically recognizing taurine and capable of charging it onto a tRNA. Biosynthesis The major pathway for mammalian taurine synthesis occurs in the liver via the cysteine sulfinic acid pathway. In this pathway, the sulfhydryl group of cysteine is first oxidized to cysteine sulfinic acid by the enzyme cysteine dioxygenase. Cysteine sulfinic acid, in turn, is decarboxylated by Sulfinoalanine decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.27) to form hypotaurine. It is unclear whether hypotaurine is then spontaneously or enzymatically oxidized to yield taurine. Taurine in the pharmaceutical and lab setting is synthesized through a combination of cysteine, methionine and vitamin E. Urban legends surrounding the source of taurine have included bull urine extract and bull semen. While it's true that taurine is found in both sources, it is not the source of taurine in the pharmaceutical or food industry. And while taurine is sometimes extracted from the intestines of cattle, many food industry sources, including the popular energy drink Red Bull[1], make efforts to use synthesized sources that are vegetarian friendly. Knowing Flo, he probably did try it, found it totally unpalatable but wouldnt tell so that we could have a chance to cough and spit profusely also Just my opinion, no one else Annette

| 1. OTC taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) capsules and Red Bull are not extracted from bulls bile or semen. 2. Annette copied most of her post from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taurine , as if she wrote it herself. Then she wrote "Just my opinion, no one else". 3. Annette's opinion of floridian is duly noted... Well rather than mix up stuff I just buy stores own generic "red bull" - high energy drinks with the same amount of caffeine and taurine which I can pick up herefor as little as 25 pence a can. (Asda for any Brits reading!) If you look around for cheap alterntives yourself you may find it a better and more convenient option for some of the time at any rate Hope it helps Helen

BikerBob, I don't know what your problem is with Annette, but your cruel, and unjustified attacks are getting very tiring ... She is an extremely intelligent, dedicated, and truly helpful person. Anyone reading her post, that you so brutally, and purposely misconstrue, fully realizes she copied the information, and just posted it for our information. Her comment about being her opinion, means the whole post, not that specific information. She also fully respects Flo's contributions and knowledge, and was making a joke. Get a life, and realize reality. Chuck
